2nd Trimester

Please help me sleep!!

I know they say that sleeping on your side is best after the first trimester, however, I have extremely bad sciatica that only acts up when I lay on my side!! This obviously makes sleeping almost impossible, because every time I move I am woken up by terrible pain. The only way this doesn't effect me is it I lay on my back. I need any suggestions I can get, I'm desperate!!

  • Have you tried talking to your doctor? They might have some suggestions since they deal with this all the time

  • Definitely ask your doctor. Have you tried using pillows to support your back or your bump or in between your legs? You could also try strengthening exercises, I did a quick google and there are lots of results out there. Hope you get some relief!!

  • I'm 30 weeks and still wind up (unintentionally) sleeping on my back most nights. Talk to your OB, it may not be as big of a deal as you think.

  • Yes, I talked with my Dr and all he said was Tylenol and a warm compress. :( I have a body pillow but not one supporting my back. Good suggestions ladies, thank you!!!
