Apple cider vinegar

FTM/37W 1D

Hey all,
I was wondering if any of you could offer advice on the usage of apple cider vinegar while pregnant? Did you use it? If so, did you have a good or bad experience? Did you opt not to use it for any particular reason?

Thank you in advance!

Re: Apple cider vinegar

  • I have been using it the entire time. I drank it every day before getting pregnant and was told it was fine to continue in pregnancy.

  • I've never even heard of this until right now, I had to google it lol I've used it to make salad dressings before but it says just to drink it, how much do you drink? And did it help the heartburn cause I would do anything to get rid of that
  • What kind did you use? I have read that unpasteurized ACV is bad to drink. Could you tell me about some of the positive and (if any) negative effects you experienced with it?

    Thanks!
  • I drink unpasteurized apple cider vinegar everyday, about 1-2 tablespoons diluted in a glass of water. I use Braggs Organic ACV - it's the best out there! I did a lot of research on pasteurized vs unpasteurized since I heard pregnant women should eat/drink anything unpasteurized - the research supports drinking unpasteurized ACV and my midwife fully supports it as well - but please use your own judgement on that. I swear by ACV, it helps with soooo many things. One of the main reasons I drink it is to help keep me free and clear of Group B Strep - the results of that test will be ready Tuesday so I have yet to see if it worked lol!
  • Also, no negative side effects for me at all! It's widely considered a health tonic around the world. Many people I know swear by it, said it cured their skin issues, digestive issues, etc
  • I drank it with my second pregnancy. I was having gallbladder issues and it worked. This is my third and I haven't had any issues so haven't drank it this time around but it helped a lot with my second pregnancy stomach aches.
  • How much did y'all ingest and how often?
  • I haven't consumed it, but I did take a few baths with a cup added to help reduce the odds of testing positive for GBS - and it worked! (Or at least I tested negative, I may have never been positive to begin with).
  • I would take 1-2 tablespoons anytime I started getting stomach aches. The doctor told me it was my gallbladder like spasming (and said it was common in pregnancy because of higher estrogen) and they gave me some medicine to take every time it happened but it was a category C and I didn't want to take it a lot. So I googled and read to do the vinegar and it would work. On another note I take a garlic pill every day just as a supplement and I've tested negative for group B strep in 3 pregnancies so far. I know probiotics will help with group b strep too.
