Negative Blood Test

I need advice. I fee very depressed. I had a blood test done today and it came back negative. I am not due for my AF until Sunday. Do you think it might have been too early even though blood test are most sensitive?

I hate giving people false hope, but I had negative tests up until the morning I should have started my period.

Blood work testing for HCG isn't just a positive or negative. It measures the amount of HCG in the blood and your lab results would have this value. If you are 3 days until AF you should have more than 0 HCG in your bloodstream if you were pregnant. Anything under 5 is usually considered not pregnant, but if you were at 0 previously there may be some hope. Most early detection urine tests can detect a minimum of 25mIU/ml. This can equate to 6-12 days post ovulation depending on how fast your numbers double. Good luck.

This is not completely accurate. There is a qualitative and quantatative HCG. The qualitative is just a yes or no result, and is often not that accurate. The hospital I worked it would not result a positive unless there was 50 ul/ml of HCG.

With that being said, we can't say one way or another. I would just test every few days until you get a positive of AF arrives. If you go more than 60 days without AF talk to your OB.

What made u decide to do a blood test? Had u done a urine test before it?
