Tips and Tricks

Hey, ladies. Did a quick search and didn't see anything like what I'm looking for.
I have had my anxiety under control for most of this pregnancy, but today it reared its ugly head. I used to take a Xanax, but I'd rather not risk it with beeb in there, trying to grow.
Any tricks you guys have found to combat anxiety? And before you ask, yes I've tried meditation, breathing exercises, oils, all that jazz. I'm hoping that some of you ladies have unique insights here that aren't on the usual go-to list for anxiety sufferers. Thanks in advance.

Re: Tips and Tricks

  • Now, I have not researched this at all, as I have not been using it while pregnant. BUT there is a product called Rescue Remedy from a company called Bach....it's AMAZING. Even though it's all natural, I'd check out the ingredients and whatnot before using. I haven't really needed it anyway during pregnancy...so there was no need for me to safety check it.

It's a natural stress relief medicine and comes in different forms...gum, hard candies, liquid drops... my favorite (and I believe most effective) was the drops...a few drops under the tongue and hold for 30 sec, and you'll feel calmer within a few minutes. Sometimes I'd take it a few times (can't overdose). I used it for high stress work days, pms, fights with the hubs, etc.

This is the best method I have ever used, but like I said, research. Good luck!! I am sorry you are feeling this way!

  • Okay, so I was feeling lazy and didn't look it up....but then I got curious.

Seems a ton of women have taken Rescue Remedy while pregnant, and it is actually recommended to be used during labor.

I still urge you to do your own research, but I could not say enough about this product!! I have been using it since I was in high school (so 10+yrs). You can get it online or in natural food stores.
  • Have you ever worked with a therapist that does Cognitive Behavioural Therapy? My mom has had great success with this.
  • I have bad anxiety and I use the rescue remedy!  it doesn't take the anxiety away completely, but it does the edge off so you can get through the day.  Also, they say eating bananas helps boost your mood, whether it does or not, seems to help me some!

  • CBT therapy, going outside, being around people, exercising, focusing your energies into something else that will consume your mind.
  • Do you speak to a counselor/therapist? I've never taken meds for anxiety but sometimes just having my therapist to tell my insane fears and phobias to and comfort me that I'm not insane is such a relief. That being said, a good girls night with a great, open eared friend can really do wonders too. Also, when anxiety hits me late at night, journaling is also a big help to me. I guess my big anxiety relief is just getting it off my chest!

  • Just a forewarning if you do try rescue remedy; there are a few different types. One of which has a high alcohol content, I used to give it to my dogs until I realized it was the alcohol content that was calming them down. Now mind you these are dogs who weigh much less than a human. Still though, I just wanted to put that out there.
