Popping/clicking sound from belly?

I'm 35w2d and I'm hearing a popping sound when the baby is really active, but I'm still.  Anyone else hearing something this odd?

  • When I take a deep breath it makes a weird noise around my rib cage on the left.  My DH can even hear it from across the room!

  • Yep happens to me, pretty sure it's babys joints cause its always when I'm sat still but she is going crazy!
  • Yes yes yes and the gurgling...it's so weird.
  • Gotta love pregnancy, huh?!

I am glad I'm not alone.  I was working with a customer earlier who stopped mid-sentence and asked if I was popping my ankles (he has misophonia, and that's apparently one of his trigger sounds).  It was quite odd to respond, "No, sir, that's just my baby moving..."
  • Yes!! Whenever the baby moves, I hear a click, like his elbow or knees popping. I heard it with my first and everyone thought I was nuts... even the OB!
  • Are you sure it's not your own stomach growling/popping? The growing uterus displaces other organs, so your stomach is a lot higher and in a different position than normal. When my stomach growls now, I can tell it's in a whole new location than before I was pregnant. Sometimes it sounds like popping, but I can definitely tell it's my stomach and not the baby.
  • I hear it all the time!! Everyone thinks I'm crazy! Lol glad it's not just me

I'm pretty sure it's not my stomach growling as I usually feel a gurgle in conjunction with that.  The only movement I feel when I hear this sound is the baby moving.

I ended up asking my MFM and he said it's very possibly the baby as there are "lots of bones in there moving around", but not to be concerned.
