Crying/whining in sleep

My Lo sometimes wakes up crying or while she's asleep she'll whine like she's about to start crying. It's been happening more and more lately. Anybody else have this happen?

Re: Crying/whining in sleep

  • Yes! This is happening to me too! But if I go in the room to comfort him he screams louder and I can't calm him down. I think he's still asleep and I startle him. I have started to leave him whimper unless it gets really loud. It's been going on maybe 2 or 3 weeks now. My pediatrician told me to leave him unless it gets really loud... So far he puts himself back to sleep 98% of the time

  • My little guy does this a lot lately. It started when his teeth started coming in. None have broken through yet and he will randomly cry like that in his sleep. I don't touch him because every time I do like PP he cries harder. The first time he did it it broke my heart. He was fast sleep whimpering with little tears on his cheeks. I wonder if it's just because he's teething.
  • I have noticed my son crying out randomly at night. I jump up to go get him to nurse and he's back fast asleep. We've been lucky and no tears, that would break my heart too. I hadn't thought about teething being a factor. We have been wondering if he is starting to!
  • Mine has been teething for awhile but none have broke through. Even when she's awake sometimes she'll just randomly start crying and I never thought about it being her teeth
  • It happens and the first time it did, he let out this wail. But didn't wake! I was freaked out by it. I figured it was a bad dream at first, later I figured it was his teething!
  • My daughter's been doing this off and on over the past 2 weeks! The only way I've been able to get her to get back to sleep and stay asleep is to take her out of the crib and let her sleep on me in our guest bedroom. I don't know what else to do. I sleep horribly (obviously) on those nights because I can't move an inch. It happened again last night and she wouldn't even settle down when I laid her down with me. :(

So glad to see this post as my LO did this for the first time lastnight. Teething makes sense - the poor little man has been a little drool machine and in pain during the day. Can't wait for those pesky teeth to cut through and to have happy morning smiles back!
