Hi everyone, My lo is 5 and a half months and will not take a pacifier and does not suck his thumb. He does chew/suck his fingers and hands when he plays but not really when he is fussy. anyone else have babies who wouldn't take them? How did they self soothe?
My daughter, whilst she does take a paci, or suck her thumb, will indicate she's about to start self-soothing by stroking her own head. Some babies have their own ways of soothing.
My son strokes his own head as well and will make a drawn out cooing noise that is repetitive and is the same sound everytime especially when he's tired.
That is something you need to talk to your pediatrician about. It sounds like maybe it's a more serious sensory issue if the baby won't take a pacifier. Definitely call. Hope that helps!
I agree, when in doubt call the ped! Maybe even the urgent care if you can't get an appt soon to discuss. Good luck!!!!!!
