High-Risk Pregnancy

Amnio Done This Morning...

Ok, amnio was done this morning... A little bit of pain when needle inserted and it's been an hour and a half and so far so good... I feel less nervous now that the procedure is over. I am going at 3:15 on Thursday for the results... Hoping that today is uneventful!!!!

  • I didn't post in this board! I feel terrible! No posted in Jan 2016 mamas... AMNIO WAS NORMAL ;)!!!!! And, his heart is measuring smaller on left side but it is not HLHS (which was suspected at first). He will need a small procedure performed when he is born, but we should only spend 2-3 weeks at Sick Kids. My little man is going to be just fine. Thank you ladies for all of your support :)!!
  • So glad you did it and that you posted good news, I know it helps other women tremendously. Congratulations! :O)
  • Regarding Amnio's... I understand there is a risk. 1 in 200 going wrong are STILL terrifying odds. However, I believe it truly matters WHERE you get it done. The hospital where I had mine administered had lost two babies in more than FIVE YEARS. They were so careful and reassuring. As scary as the amnio was, for me it was far more terrifying to have to worry if something was chromosomally wrong with my baby. Amnio's are definitive, conclusive and leave no room for the imagination to run wild. I was NOT enjoying my pregnancy after an uncertain anatomy scan and I couldn't sleep, worried all of the time and was an emotional disaster. The amnio gave me peace of mind and the reassurance that I needed to relax and enjoy this little miracle growing inside of me. He's measuring small just because he IS and for no medical reason... His echogenic bowels really did mean nothing (however they could have meant a lot of other things) and his heart problem is an coarctation of the aorta which will require surgery, but it's he least invasive possible heart surgery that he could have to have and had a 99 percent chance of never needing another heart surgery in his life after he is born <3. I feel so much better in knowing what I need to (or don't need to) be prepared for :).
