When to test

Ugh this waiting game is crazy. When did everyone test and which brand of tests? My AF is due in 6 days and the anticipation is killing me. I want to test this morning but I know it's probably too early!

10 dpo is the earliest most sources recommend testing, however many of us (myself included) start around 9 dpo. As for which brand, thats up to you.  I usually just buy the 88 cent cheapies from Wal-Mart.

If you're going to test early, I'd recommend ordering Wondfos on Amazon (search this board first for legitimate sellers) to save some $$$. If you get a faint line, you can confirm with a FRER.

@mandielane87 I would try to wait until 10 dpo, and even that is very early.

I wait until I'm a day or two late for AF. I don't like to get my hopes up too much.

I try not to test until 12-14dpo. I don't buy Wondfos because I try not to POAS daily. If I'm not KU in the next two months, I will probably give in and buy some. Mainly because I'm cheap.

I usually try to hold out as long as I can. BFNs are really hard to see so waiting is better for me. Usually if I'm getting really close and getting antsy I usually try to schedule things to make sure I'm busy and out of the house to avoid the ruminating about it or temptation to test but it is very hard!

I agree with @beachbunnyxo123 about waiting as long as you can. Personally, I always make myself wait a week after my expected AF because I have such a hard time with the let down. Since coming off BC my AF has been unpredictable so even if I think I'm late it's just been a longer cycle.

**I don't temp so that may skew my answer a bit, if I knew we had perfect timing I might be more apt to test sooner!

I wait until a week past when I am supposed to get AF. I usually let FF tell me when to test.

I use veriquick, new choice (dollar store) & FRER.

Like some others, I wait until after AF. First, I don't want to experience a CP, which happen quite frequently (and are completely normal). And, at risk of being flamed here, I will add that early pregnancy tests are a scam, imo. Even FRER are not "99%" accurate until the first day of your missed period. Why spend money on something that admits on the box itself that it is not accurate at those early dates (like only 50-something percent accurate at 5-6 days early if I remember correctly)?

I started testing about 10 dpo or so i thought but AF decided to come a week later than normal which led me to test twice as much and wasting a bit of money on those darn tests, all to be negative. Here's hoping you get good results!!

This cycle I am going to try and wait until my period is due. My first cycle of BC I had a 9 day LP. My second cycle I had a 11 day LP. I test on day 10 and 11 thinking that I was pregnant but it was just my LP still changing from coming off BC. I ordered some Wondfo OPK and pregnancy test so I know that having those test in my home I will properly start POAS at 11 or 12 DPO  :-S I will be setting myself up but I only had self control because I did not have any test at my house.
If I were you I would try and base it off your LP if you do not like to see a BFN. So if your LP is 15 days, it might not be wise to start testing at  10 DPO.

I only test early if I think there's a real possibility that it will be positive and I'm doing something that will involve drinking. Otherwise, I try to wait until AF is due.
