QOTW: Who is your parenting role model or inspiration?

Hi, I'm new to this board.

My week was okay... DH just had surgery, so I've been busy taking care of him AND the kids.

I don't think I have one particular parenting role model, rather I pick and chose different qualities and ideas from all sources. I look to friends, family "experts" who write books and so on, for guidance. 

How was your week?

My week was good.  Chloe is really starting to become more aware of things, wyhich is fun for us. 

Went to baby-wearing yoga for the second time.  Chloe did great until the end, when she got fussy.  I took her out and the receptionist said they had a lactation room I could use.  Um, okay, but I'm not breastfeeding.  Of course I didn't say that.  (The place that offers the free yoga is called Modern Milk and they offer a lot of classes on breastfeeding.)  I took her back there and just tried to calm her down.  I look forward to the day when I am comfortable with just saying "I'm not breastfeeding" and/or not having to explain why.

Chloe also had PT this week.  She has a slight case of torticollous and her head is slightly flat on the one side.  The therapist gave us some stretches to do, and I really think she's doing better with holding her head up.  Bottom line is they want us to come in once a week for therapy for a month or so.  Fiance kinda thinks they just want our money and that we can work on the problem on our own, but, while I get where he's coming from, I am all about taking her to the therapy, at least for now.

Parentinh role model?  I think I'm like @hayleydeee.  I take bits and pieces from a bunch of different people.  One thing I DO want to emulate is my mom, especially once Chloe gets older.  Mom always held her tongue and let us make our own choices/mistakes.  I think that's a tough thing to do.

Thanks for the back-to-work well wishes last  week.

First week back wasn't too bad. DH watched LO 3 days, and took him to daycare on two, which has eased me into things. It actually does feel good to get out of the house and I do feel like I'm more engaged and appreciative during the time I do have with LO. Plus, I actually enjoyed my job my job more than I had in a while, coming back refreshed. I haven't been too appreciative of my current job before, but right now I feel blessed with the most low-stress, supportive, family friendly workplace I've ever been in. 

Even so, I'm still not sure how sustainable full-time work is. DH has his own business and is the primary earner, so I worry he's taking on waaaay too much by also trying to watch LO part time. 

Most tiring part of the week was keeping up with pumping, since having been out of town most of the summer, I have no freezer stash.

@mindaa ... glad to hear transitioning back to work has been okay for you.  I really needed to read your experience as I have been having mini meltdowns/panic attacks about returning in two months.  (I know, I know, I shouldn't worry about that NOW, but you know how it goes sometimes.)

I went through the same thing a few weeks out, I was dreading going back! Maybe because LO is still just so, little at that time- there is a lot of growth and development between 2-3 months. Or maybe it's just because after 3 months, the intense interaction solely on one baby just gets old. I don't know, and I know it's different for everyone... but now I'm just hoping this positive attitude lasts until the holiday vacation!

Hi there. I'm new here as well. Baby is now 2 weeks old, I'm on maternity leave and just taking each day as it comes. Had a walk today, not far, just 1 km, but the internal stitches from my c section (baby was breech) got quite painful. Other than that, DH stated a new job today so it was strange being at home alone, but at least LO'S nanny was here for some company.

Parenting role model: I'll check out @hayleedeee . I don't really know very many parents (and esp not of small children). I keep on thinking baby must be a bit bored but am trying. ..
