October 2015 Moms

Dropped...

I am 34w5d and had my 34 week check up earlier today. This past week or so I've had a lot of pressure in my lower abdomin/pelvic area and have just felt very uncomfortable. My doctor stated that my little Zoe has dropped tremendousley already.. Anyone else? This doesn't necessarily mean I will go into labor sooner but my doctor keeps telling me if I make it to October 4th he will be very suprised with all the other complications I have experienced along this pregnancy journey =)

Re: Dropped...

  • I feel like I have "dropped" as well.  Lots of pressure down there even hurts to walk a lot.  I don't go to my next appointment until September 9th.  just wondering if he is going to be a September or October baby..his DD is October 1st.  I'm ready though!

  • Same exact thing happened to me with my first. Baby dropped at 34wks, my midwife said typically its 4 weeks after the baby drops that you deliver. My Daughter was born at 38wks!! :)
  • I've dropped as well- I'm 34 weeks. I was worried because it seemed early to me, but since I'm not dialated or effaced my dr. wasn't concerned.
  • I feel like mine dropped last night, I could feel him moving downward! But is that a thing - or does it happen more gradually than that?
  • I don't know that it is more gradual...or maybe at the very least it can vary from person to person. I can actually feel his little head settling lower and lower, almost like a nuzzle inching down. And it seems pretty all of a sudden to me too.
  • Mine was a sudden drop- it seemed like it happened overnight.
  • I just went to my appointment and mid wife said my little is ready to come he is in postion and has dropped and said any day now he can make a surprise appearance :) my due date is Oct 1st but she says it's most likely he will be coming early
  • You and me both! I definitely feel like this little girl is lower in the past few days. Today has been super uncomfortable for me. I am 34 weeks and 3 days. I am having those zinger like sensations down to my vagina, more pelvic pressure and have to pee more often all of a sudden (forgot this happens!). I have my next appt on Thursday and I'm curious to hear what my doc says. Hoping I get a pelvic exam as I've not had one for months and ok curious to know what it's all looking like from that perspective.
  • I think I may be starting to drop but it's hard to tell. Baby was definitely hanging out lower than usual but could just be his preference at the moment!
  • My doctor told me yesterday that I had dropped. I didn't notice a difference in anything, but he said I may start to feel some back pain and like a knife is stabbing me in the vagina. I thought that was descriptive, but appreciated his keeping it real. I'm 35+5 and he said the baby may come in September. (I hope not!) He left the due date October 2nd though.
  • I know my LO has dropped... It happened a wee bit one day, and bit by bit she surely has wiggled her way down there.

Full on pressure when I walk like she is about to fall out the bottom of my belly!! On the upside, less heartburn, and better sleep!

My dresses look different and one looks way more flattering than it did the week before, as my tops and dresses are hanging very differently on me now.

I dropped at 32/33 weeks. And given that she is in the 98th percentile for weight, I suspect LO will be here before my Oct 16 DD.

My next OBGYN appointment is on the 8th, so we will see what the verdict is! 4 weeks after dropping, would put me as having a Sept baby!

  • I think our baby moved into the head down position when I was about 30 weeks. I've been having pelvic pain and pressure for the last month or so. When I went in for my ultrasound, the tech told me she is indeed head down on my left side, facing to the right. I don't know if her already being head down means she's dropped or not, though. But this pelvis pain is no joke.

A friend of mine who's 41 weeks said she feels her son down there but she doesn't feel the pain or pressure that I feel. And she has to be induced this weekend because she's been dilated to 1 cm for the last week and a half.

  • At my 30 week appointment my dr told me baby is head down, and super low. This is also my second pregnancy.

i think the pain and pressure comes and goes. i had this at 34 weeks to the point where if i was walking i would have to temporarily stop because of the shooting pain.  i asked my doc and she said it doesn't mean the baby will come early (necessarily). i am now 35 + 4 and my little guy is still head down and is definitely low down there at least per an ultrasound last week, but the shooting pains have been greatly reduced. i still get them especially when bending down or sometimes when getting up from sitting but nothing that would stop me in my tracks like before. i was convinced when that was happening that the baby would come early and packed my hospital bag but now he seems comfy in there again. i have had horrible back pain lately though, interesting what you said @stacielp. if he comes at 38 weeks that would be sept. 18th! whoa!
