Lovely Stretch Marks

I started getting stretch marks when I was 14 years old and going through puberty. Most of those of faded and they are on the sides of my hips. With this pregnancy, I thought I was doing so good, until week 35. I now have stretch marks covering my love handles, butt, and back of thighs. I feel like they all came over night! I know it's normal to get them, but I also have them on my inner thighs and they are going all the way down to the back of my knees! Has anyone else ever heard of this?!? I haven't gotten ONE on my stomach, which is where I had most of my growth. So strange!!! STM, please tell me they fade within a year! I want to be able to wear a bathing suit next summer!!

Re: Lovely Stretch Marks

  • My best friend was covered from boobs to calves in stretch marks, she cried so many times over them. I was scared to have the same and that they wouldn't fade if i did.
But her son is now 2 and you couldn't tell by looking at her that they were ever there. Her skin healed beautifully!
    I have hope

  • They do fade. Don't worry about it. Use a stretch mark cream and/or tummy butter to help the process.

  • @chelseajeanene I completely understand what you are saying! I am most concerned about the ones going down the back of my legs. I just have never seen anything like it! They are definitely battle wounds!
  • Ohh my tummy looks funny
I don't care one bit that i have them, at first I did but then they grew on me lol
  • I have large stretch marks on my knees from a growth spurt as a kid. They aren't really noticeable unless I'm really, really tan. I'm sure yours will fade the same and you'll be the only one to notice!
  • I have some from growing as a teen as well, and those decided to start turning pink again lately! At least I know they fade over time. What I discovered yesterday was some stretch marks on my hooha! :( idk where they came from or why, it's such a weird place to get stretch marks!!
  • I have some on my thighs from being a growing teenager and from weight loss as a young adult and they go down to around the knee area. Even though my mom never got stretch marks when she was pregnant I figured I'd get some based on how my skin had reacted in the past. At 37 weeks I got some on the underside of my tummy. I also have a new array of spider veins on the top of my tummy for extra decoration too. The marks on my thighs became very light but are still visible to me after all these years. I've been using a body brush and oiling my stomach daily in hopes that these ones will fade better because I am far more aware of them then I ever was of the ones on my legs.

I was trying to be an actress before I got pregnant, mostly doing theatre and working with youth while taking on odd jobs to make money, so I was worried that this body change would ruin role opportunities. I had already been told things like "Be a size 2" and "Beauty is more important than talent in this industry" so I was already very nervous about finding a film agent BEFORE all these changes... I've decided that as a mom I want roles that accept and celebrate womens bodies. Stretch marks a natural part of growing and aging, not just pregnancy. I've also been comforted by noticing a few faded stretch marks around my partner's bum - and he has always been a super fit fellow!
  • I have stretch marks that start on my hips, cover my butt, wrap around my thighs and go all the way down to the top of my calves. The stretch marks on my butt and inner thighs are soo dark and I really hope they fade. I have just started getting stretch marks on my lower stomach. Hopefully I don't get many more before this kid is born.
  • My stretch marks sound a lot like yours. I haven't gotten any on my stomach (actually I do have one tiny one but that's it's so far) but my boobs are covered, my love handles, and I just discovered some going down the inner/back of my thighs :/ wtf. My stomach is obviously the place growing the most im so confused why they are showing up everywhere but there
  • So weird how it's different for everyone. I don't have any anywhere except ALL over my belly. Mine look like yours @chelseajeanene. Hopefully they fade over time but oh well we grew a human.
  • I ahve a three year old
And had a few on my belly from
Him. They are very light this pregnancy I have used arbonne firming cream. Not a single stretch mark and has made the others disappear! Stuff is amazing!!!! Good luck!
  • My skin is pretty prone to them.  Got them on my hips during puberty when those grew like crazy. I've also gotten some in adulthood due to weight fluctuations. They start out pretty red/purple-ish, but fade to white/silver pretty quickly on my skin.

I was surprised when my belly didn't get any during this pregnancy, but no worries, they showed up eventually, around week 33 or so!  Not too bad, though - pretty confined to lower on the abdomen (which was surprising, since I am carrying pretty high).  Skin elasticity is an individual thing, and can be related to heredity, so whether or not you are susceptible and how much they show, as well as how quickly the appearance fades/if it fades is going to vary person to person.

I don't lose any sleep over it.   Like I said, not a surprise; since puberty, it's been clear that my skin doesn't react well to rapid stretching,  and, also, they fade to only semi-noticeable pretty quickly on me.  My husband is of the fabulous attitude that they're marks well-earned, which is really pretty nice, too, and helps that much more with the self-consciousness.
  • I want to know why my stretch marks are all connecting? If yours are all like @chelseajeanene why do mine look like this? They're so funny looking compared to yours. And my belly button grosses me out now, I had a really deep inny but now it's an outy

Everyone is different, mine look just like urs, I had them from my first pregnancy, now this is my third n I didn't get a lot but maybe cpl ones. Is funny because my gf's stretch marks r so different looking than mine too...
  • I haven't had any new ones since my first baby 6 years ago. At first they looked really bad but now they are just shiny. They don't bother me at all.
