I'll be 20 weeks on Saturday and DH and I decided to take a short camping trip. It will be a relatively easy trip, camping right next to the car, and close to amenities. Has anyone else CWP (camped while pregnant)? Any advice?
Well..if u r in a tent on the ground good luck...otherwise have a great trip.. We love camping. .I just don't do anything there that I wouldn't do at home...
Yes I have and we are going camping this weekend too i'll be 18+ 3/4/5/6 when we are there! You'll be fine just observe good hygiene with food etc as normal & perhaps take a blow up mattress for your own comfort - other than that it's normal camping Good luck xxx
I went last weekend at 18 weeks. I was on the ground (no bed or air mattress or anything) so it was fairly uncomfortable, but it was just 2 nights. Mostly I worried about taking plenty of snacks (since I'm always so hungry!) and water, and obviously sunscreen and bug repellent (I checked, it's safe during pregnancy, but you can go for low Deet content). I also took hand sanitizer for convenience. And avoid staying in the sun too long, sun and pregnancy don't mix very well.
Just make sure you have a comfy sleeping arrangment!
And have fun!! I'm jealous, I love camping!!!
Hubby and I have a big trip planned next summer when LO is about 6 mths, but we will have a cabin so we're cheating haha. Either way, should be interesting!
Ps- if you're really roughing it, take hand sanitizer!! If you're peeing in the woods all day and can't wash your hands.
I've been camping twice while pregnant this summer. I actually had the best nights of sleep while camping! My tips: -Air mattress (if possible) -A few extra pillows than you'd normally bring -Lots of healthy snacks (being outside made me even hungrier) -Family friendly bug spray (they were biting me more than usual) -Hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes -Baby wipes (I like to take the bug spray off before bed and these make great on the go showers) -Layers (it can get colder than you expect at night) -Bottled water (this was Dr. directed when I asked about camping) -A comfortable folding chair -Flip flops for late night pee runs (or other easy slide on shoes)
And if you live in a tick heavy area, make sure to do a couple tick checks a day.
You can still do lots of things while pregnant! We camped last week and it was just like any other camping trip we've had. Just don't overdo it with lifting heavy stuff and you will be fine.
I've done it twice this summer and going for a third time in a couple of weeks. I agree with bringing your own pillow! That and some type of mattress or yoga mat so that your back doesn't suffer too much, and you'll have a great time!
I am an avid camper and generally a back or tummy sleeper. The first time my sleeping pad deflated and made my hips miserable. I am going in a few weeks and have taken precautions: my own pillow, my boppy body pillow, and double sleeping pads insurance for a great trip!
I've been camping three times this summer. My advice is to keep the trip short (like you're already doing) and to stop drinking water an hour before bed. If you thought getting up to pee was inconvenient before...
I went tent camping at 12 and 15 weeks with my first and just got back from a camping trip this weekend (20w) I strongly suggest an air mattress, but other than that everything else was the same! So much fun! And I agree with the person above... Have a plan for middle of the night pees hehe
AIR MATTRESS. I just did a 3 week hiking/camping trip... tent and sleeping bag on the hard ground and it was very uncomfortable if you're trying to side sleep. Otherwise it was fine, except having to pee in the woods all the time.
Also went camping at 20 weeks. It was completely fine. The only annoying thing was getting up to pee in the middle of the night. I felt so bad waking everyone up each time I undid the tent zipper. I tried to stop drinking water after 7:00 and managed only one middle of the night trip each night.
Remember: BRING PLENTY OF BOTTLED WATER! An Air matress is a must, Your pregnancy pillow, tums, healthy snacks you can enjoy between meals, your skin can get more dry so bring body butter, and a lot of sunscreen- there is nothing worse than being sunburnt and sore laying in a tent while pregnant!
Thanks all! I'll def load up on pillows, snacks and bug spray...and I'll try not to fall in the fire ! I'm so looking forward to a relaxing trip with my hubby!
