Classical Music?

Will playing classical music for growing baby to listen to be beneficial now, or is it too early?

No research shows that playing classical music during pregnancy will have any effect on baby's intelligence. I've heard that you should play music you enjoy because then you'll be relaxed and happy which in turn will make baby happy.

  • It helps lower blood pressure and cortisol for mama so it's definitely beneficial for baby. Auditory systems in developing babies don't become functional until the 4th or 5th month at the earliest, but it never hurts to start early right?

Meh. I think it's BS that it directly affects baby, just like belly headphones I saw a lady buying at Babies R Us. To each their own though. I'd rather play music for my kid that I hope he/she will actually enjoy one day, like some Dave Matthews :)

  • I dont think it's a good idea to put headphones on your belly. You could actually be hurting your baby. And it's not shown to help anything. But if you want to listen to normal volume classical music without belly headphones, go for it.
