L&D units are typically busier during a full moon. I'm really hoping we get through this weekend without going into labor ourselves
Yeah, we're not ready here yet either. Will only be 37 weeks and I know generally it's said it only works if you're already close anyway. BUT I'm a 3TM with 2 preemies
I'm due on the 2nd, so I'm hoping the full moon brings on my baby girl! The last full moon brought consistent contractions, but not labor so fingers crossed!!!
I hope that a full moon works for me! I'll be 38+ weeks this weekend with twins and my midwife and DO are leaning on me (nicely) to get into labor already. I don't even want to have to discuss inductions so going into labor naturally this weekend would be awesome. Thanks for reminding me of the full moon.
I was induced with DS1 on a full moon. L&D was crazy packed and it took forever for them to get me a room. I will be 38+5 so I would love if it worked. The nurses told me they are almost always packed on a full moon.
Not sure about full moon but I know weather changes/barometric pressure changes can definitely have an impact on labor. The night I had #2 there had been a big storm coming and I knew like 4 other moms just in my circle of friends who also went into labor not to mention the L&D floor was super busy.
So a few months ago this weird old lady cane up to me out of nowhere and said "congratulations on your baby girl, she'll be coming during the full moon!" I was just like how did you know I'm having a girl?! She just said she could tell and then left... I'll be 36w and 6d on this full moon. The next full moon is Sept 27, a week after my due date. Wonder which one baby will come for lolol that lady has had me all creeped out!
My MIL has been saying that I will go into labor on this full moon for a month now! I will be 38 weeks tomorrow and baby is measuring big so I wouldn't mind at all.
My mother keeps saying I'll go into labor during the full moon this weekend! (I'm due 9/2 so I hope it's true!!) Her co-worker just had her baby during the last full moon
My MIL just mentioned this to me yesterday. I've never heard about full moon stuff until I met her. But since then I totally believe it now. It seems like that's when the crazy comes out of people. I'll be just over 36 weeks and she's kinda freaking out because DH will be working almost 2 hours away and possibly staying the night for work on Thursday night. She wants me to stay at her place while he's gone just in case.
L&D nurse lurking from August. It is busier during a full mom because a lot of times the full moon changes weather pressure and other aspects. Just like barometric pressure changes can bring labor. I do find though that it only works for those who are close to going into labor. I will be 40.2 weeks so I am hoping this works for me. Also sept to oct tends to be the busiest months for L&D anyway due to conception dates being around Christmas and new years. Good luck ladies. I hope anyone that is due gets there baby this weekend.
Apparently this full moon is called a super moon. It's technically called a perigee moon and this means that the usual effects on earth such as elevating tides that full moons do this full moon will elevate them even higher. This to me means if they actually cause women to go into labor then the effects are even stronger for this moon! Also another moon folk lore is babies born the day after a full moon enjoy success and endurance. I'll be 39 +4 so I'm hoping my lo makes his appearance
This is really making me wonder. I kept saying that what I wanted for my birthday was for little man to show up. My bday is Saturday and now a full moon who knows! The weirder thing is I saw my grandmother for the first time in months yesterday and she told me she dreamed the night before that I had him. Guess we will see
I do think the weather/pressure changing and full moons can definitely have an effect. This is our first week back to school, with a full moon, so it will be an interesting week to begin with.
We had a storm system move through Wednesday and Thursday last week and the hospital I'm delivering at (small and rural) had 4 babies born Wednesday night. Not a normal thing and my doctor did say something about the weather changing at my appointment Thursday. I will be 39 weeks on Friday, so I'm hoping the full moon will get things started!
Uhg I'm really hoping I don't lol my sister has been saying pretty much since we got our due date that I was going to have him that day because of the full moon. I don't want my kiddo coming in August we have WAY to many birthdays this month in both our families! Also I just don't want her to be right lol. It's possible though I'll be 39 weeks next Sunday but I'd still rather he hang out at least a few more days.
Is that this weekend? I'm going to look into this. I'll be 39. Although weekends are typically worse then weekdays to deliver I have been told so full moon plus weekend might make it crazy.
I wouldn't want my baby to come this full moon, but there's another one right before my due date that I'd be totally cool with! I'd love to know more about the science behind it.
Whenever the kids are crazy at school (I'm a teacher) I always check and sure enough it's a full moon. I don't really want baby to make an appearance yet (38 weeks on full moon) and it sounds like L&D would be a nightmare! Fingers crossed for all those closer to term though!
My husband is completely convinced we will have our son either 3 days before or 3 days after. Crazy thing is, Saturday I'll be taken off the medication stopping my contractions!! Soo excited!
I've been told that the hospital staffs more people in L&D and the ER during a full moon. I know there are studies that show an increased chance of labor when a storm comes but I am not too sure about the full moon. It would be cool if it were true except that the next full moon is a bit after my due date...I don't want to wait that long LOL!!
I'll be 39.2 on the full moon. My son came at 39.3 so there is a good chance that this one could come on Saturday. I would really prefer that he comes on Thursday or Monday to avoid all of the full moon craziness and a crowded L&D unit. I'm a believer.
My mom was telling me about this! I'll be 39 weeks this Saturday so we'll see. I predict baby is coming before the week is over though, based on the waves of lower back pain that's been settling in and our the past couple of days.
This freaks me out a bit. Saturday is our moving day and I'll be almost 39 weeks. I just want to get everything moved in and unpacked before he comes and we still have to clean up the old place. Saturday would not be ideal so hopefully this phenomenon passes me by and I make it to 40 weeks!
