Dead baby dreams?

I have had three dreams of giving birth to a dead baby. Last nights dream wasnthe worst of them all. Is anyone else having dreams like this? Its really fucking with my head and making me worried and depressed.

FTM/35 weeks

Re: Dead baby dreams?

  • I didn't have dreams quite like that, but I've had dreams about baby girl having to go to the NICU for breathing trouble...but this was around week 35-36. Now that I'm further they have stopped. Maybe just anxiety about PTL? Sorry you're having such awful dreams. :(

  • We can manifest our deepest fears in our dreams. A dream isn't reality and will not always come true. I've had these nightmares about my kids and they're are healthy and fine.

Just woke up from a dream about my mom. She died in 2004. It wasn't even what actually happened or anything but I was bawling in my dream. Now she really did die and I mention it because death dreams SUCK and can really make you feel off when you wake up. I just try to shake it off and move on with my day because nothing can change what I dreamed. Hope you have a good day and no more bad dreams!!!
    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I had a dream last week that the baby was stillborn. It was awful I woke up in the middle of the night afterwards and was so freaked out I couldn't go back to sleep. Definitely have had some weird dreams this pregnancy but that one was the worst.
  • I mean, I have the normal fears about being a FTM, but my husband is amazing, we are stable in pretty every aspect, and I have a great support system. Why am I having these awful dreams about my baby being dead? I'm just freaked out. I can't focus on anything else.
  • Christ, what is wrong with our dreams?!
  • @kkerner87 I also had a dream the baby was a cat. I was really upset at birth and when I tried to nurse it, the cat slipped out of my arms and ran away.

I had a dream around halfway through my pregnancy that little guy was born at like 23 weeks or so and was given no medical intervention. I took him home and he kept reverting backwards in pregnancy until he disappeared. It messed with my head big time. He has so far made it to over 36 weeks.

    Pregnancy dreams can suck it.
  • Omg lol. I had the same part in my dream. I tried to nurse it haha. Maybe because up until now, my cat has been called "baby girl" and center of attention in our house. So maybe it is just my mind letting go of my cat being my "baby" and having an actual baby lol.
  • I have also had the cat dream! I gave birth to my actual cat. and then put clothes on her.

last night I dreamed my hubby left me and I had a fight with my mom, so I went off in a bush and just gave birth by myself. but then when I went to deliver the placenta, it wouldn't come out, and I looked down at baby girl and realized she had stopped breathing :(
  • I had one in the 2nd trimester. However let me start by saying I am the queen of weird ass dreams so of course instead of dreaming my child was stillborn I dreamt he drowned in oatmeal..... Please someone psychoanalyze THAT for me lol. I was torn when I woke up between being horribly upset and laughing. Ultimately both reactions kind of canceled each other out /:)
  • No pregnancy dreams this time but with DD1 they were sooo bad!

I kept having dreams my newborn was drowning in a pool or I gave birth but then would never get to meet her. I'm sorry you're having those because they can feel so real and then you carry that icky feeling all day. I've heard that drinking tons of water before bed can help keep dreaming at bay.

Does it keep dreaming at bay cuz you pee all night and can't sleep?? lol!

I usually don't remember my dreams, but I feel like I'm up all night anyway. This morning from 3-5 I laid in bed and stalked stuff on etsy. Productive.
  • I don't have as many dreams of the baby dying but I do have a lot of dreams where I'm trying to birth the baby, things go wrong I need surgery. Things of the sort. I feel like every movie or tv show I watch too something happens to a baby or the babies die. It breaks my heart and makes me so paranoid! I'm terrified daily!
  • When you said these dreams can make you feel like shit all day, you weren't lying. I have this massive cloud of depression hovering over me and I just can't shake it. All I want to do is cry. I feel lost.
  • I think the end of pregnancy is scarier than the beginning even though the chances of something going wrong are much less. We're just so close, I think it's normal for those fears to manifest in your dreams.

With DS1 I would have dreams I left him places or would forget to change his diaper for 8 hours. Just general "I will be a terrible mother fears". So far, I have managed never to leave him in a drawer in a college dorm as my dream suggested.
  • I had a weird dream last night - hubby told me he wasn't really into me and had actually cheated on me several times. I wasn't mad at all, I was just like, "Oh, that's cool, I'm gonna go find someone else, too..." Like it was no big deal. I also wasn't pregnant in my dream. Super weird considering we have an awesome marriage and I've never suspected him of cheating. I told him about it when we woke up and he was more concerned that I was totally fine with his infidelity than anything else, lol.
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Ugh I had these dreams before I was ever pregnant even but they've returned a few times in the past month and theyre horribly anxiety-inducing for me, but I dream that I had a baby and forgot about it--like, full blown amnesia for the first three, for weeks of the baby's life and when I finally remember, I'm mortified because I can't ask anyone what happened, no one days anything to me about it, and I'm so afraid of looking for the baby and what I'll find. It's an absolutely horrible dream every time and it always sets me up for the worst day afterwards. :-((
  • I haven't had any crazy dreams with this one but DD they were terrible.

I dreamt that I delivered a boy and then I went into a coma for 15 years and woke up trying to newborn-care for this 15 year old boy. I also had dreams that I let my family watch the baby and they donated her limbs to a children's cancer foundation. They were all ok with it and thanking me for my generosity and how my child gave another child the ability to walk and all I could think of was my baby never being able to become a ballerina. I also had super weird sex dreams but I'll never tell those lol

DD is perfectly healthy and my family still hasn't suggested donating any of her parts lol dreams are so odd and it's tough to shake them sometimes. Keep reading our birth announcements of healthy babies and try to stick with positive thoughts and even TV or books you're watching/reading.
  • Definitely had this happen over the weekend. Had a dream that I tripped falling on my side. Out if the vajay-jay came a super tiny baby. Just rolled on the floor. Reminded me of a game piece or something. It was super bizarre and creepy!

I've also been plagued with the dreams of my hubby cheating on me even tho there's no way it would happen. Those dreams have happened way more often and way more intense than the dead baby dreams, so the cheating dreams are the ones that make me feel off kilter during my day.

    Yay hormones huh???
