Should I go for another ultrasound?

its almost time for another dr appointment and I need to make a decision about whether I want another ultrasound. When I went in for my 20 week scan everything looked great and found out we were having a beautiful boy! My doctor said that since he was lying breach they couldn't get a good shot of the face or of the entire spine. However, everything else was fine no soft markers or visible deformities. My insurance won't pay for another one and as much as I would love to see him again before he is born but the price tag is scaring me a bit. Me and my husband are both under thirty with no problems on either side of the family. Anybody else had to make this choice? Anyone have clean ultrasounds and baby still born with physical disabilities?

I wouldn't worry about it. Have never had this happen before myself, but I skip all genetic testing every time and have all had completely healthy babies. Sounds like you have no risk factors. I'm kind of surprised if they didn't get everything they needed to check baby that insurance wouldn't pay for another one though.

Unless your doctor feels like another one is necessary, I wouldn't.

I would save your money, tempting as it is, and treat your new son to something nice when he arrives

That's interesting. Our Baby A kept her back turned during out entire a/s and our doctor requested a repeat u/s after 4 weeks to check her face and nasal bone.
I guess I didn't question it as something that may be unnecessary, but luckily our insurance is amazing and will be covering it.
