Good Morning!  Anyone out there try the Clearblue Ovulation test?  I just started it this week. Does anyone have any thoughts on it?  Just a newbie here trying to find my way.  Thanks so much for your patience.

Thanks!

Re: Clearblue Ovulation Test

  • I use it and it has given me positive results that I am going to ovulate. However, I am not pregnant at this time and am currently TTC #1 like many women on this board.

Not trying to be rude, but if you want to find out women who have had success you may be better posing this question to a BMB or a board of women in their 1st/2nd/3rd trimester.

I'm a newbie here but I am getting the hang of things and know that almost everyone here will recommend taking your BBT every morning as it's the only way to confirm ovulation.

Hope this helps & good luck!

  • I'm using it along with temping and tracking CM on the Fertility Friend app.  I had a negative, a positive, and another negative within a day with it though, so I wouldn't use it as my sole or even main form of fertility monitoring.  I only knew what days to start using the OPKs because of the FF tracking.

Also, as PP said, most people here are still TRYING to get pregnant so success stories would be better found in a board full of currently pregnant women.

  • I didn't mean to offend.  I literally joined this site a week ago so I'm still trying to navigate. I'm sorry if I posed the wrong question on the wrong board. I'm a newbie just reaching out trying to talk to women who are on the same path.  Thanks.

  • Sorry if I came out as rude, you didn't offend me... I just can't help you as much as someone who is pregnant or has a baby can.

I'm trying to be really diligent at temping this month because only using OPK's did not get me knocked up last month.

Good luck! And as @katetastrophem said you can search this topic and get a lot of good advice!

I can't speak for everyone, but I'm not offended, just trying to help you. There's so much information in prior posts that they're definitely worth perusing. Good luck OP!
  • You may want to specify if it's the CBAD or just CBD.  One shows either low or high fertility and one shows low, high, peak.  There is a big difference.  Either way, this is discussed frequently and you could find lots of info using the search.
  • I used the CBAD this cycle, but hadn't been temping yet. I got a "peak" result on CD9, which I thought seemed early...but since I wasn't temping I have no way to know if I did ovulate soon after or not (well, until I POAS).
I like using them, & I think when I use them along with temping I will feel more confident.
I definitely agree with what PP said...you can learn more about success with these OPK's from women who are pregnant, as we're all here TTC.
    Good luck OP! :)

OP, please don'e delete your question - it's considered rude to do so. Keep it so others can learn...

Also, as PP have stated, check out the search function as this question is asked almost weekly and there is some great information in the other threads.

Personally, I have not tried the Clear Blue kits, but others on here have. I might try them next month if I don't see any success in the First Response ones I currently have from last cycle.

    Good luck!

  • Hi Christine!   I am currently using the clearblue easy digital advanced opks.  Several friends of mine used them and have gotten pregnant on them.  My obgyn advised me to use these as she said the low, high, and peak days provide you with a better idea of your fertile window.

I will say that I've gotten some weird results with them though.  I had 12 high days on one of them, bought another one and got a low reading.  I will say that I got a peak on both of them on the same day and that made me feel a little bit better about them.

I started using a BBT two months ago and that's made me feel much more confident.  I'm also tracking cervical mucus and cervical position.  After tracking through BBT, I realized that I may have been getting an LH surge (my body was trying to ovulate) but I actually wasn't ovulating.  Now I'm on Femara days 4-8, Metformin 2000 mg, and tracking everything lol (cervical mucus, BBT, cervical position, cheapie OPKs, and using the Clearblue digital advanced opks so that I can find those high and peak days).  I think the Clear blue kits are great for a heads up on your high fertility and peak fertility days but I wouldn't trust them by themselves.

You can't use a new holder in the middle of a cycle, that's why you got a "low" reading.  It uses baselines and looks for hormones that are higher than they were yesterday.  So if you start a new holder when one has already said 'high" the new one will think that is your normal level and will look for a spike above that level.
  • Thank you so much, everyone. I greatly appreciate all of the information.  Good luck to you all!

  • I used them when I was TTC with my first and it took us 5 cycles to get pregnant. I'm now using them while TTC our second. I found the high fertility days useful, but you have to be careful to test with your FMU until you get a flashing smile or you can get a false high fertility that can last extra days and be frustrating before finally getting a solid smile for ovulation. One time I got 21 flashing smiles - I just about lost my mind and that definitely made things super stressful, BUT that is not the norm and the test ended up being correct and I just had a very off cycle that time. Overall I find them helpful and accurate but they are expensive. ;)

  • I used them when TTC #1 along with temping, they did help confirm my O date so for that they were useful to me.  It took me 5 cycles to get pregnant, I temped and used the ovulation tests the last two cycles.

    Good Luck

  • I am on my second cycle using these. Hoping for a BFP soon.

Used it last month and only got the peak. Had sex those 2 days but nothing. My friend used it, same thing happened where she just got the peak, they had sex those 2 days and she got pregnant. This cycle we stuck to EOD, which I read was better. I will keep you posted!

  • I didn't say "us". I said "you" and was going to do so in a PM. As someone has been using these and have been TTC for several months, I have been curious on how long it has taken others to get pregnant by using these and if they were accurate.

Anyways.... update was it didn't work again and got a BFN. Last 2 months the OVK have said I have ovulated sooner than what the calendar did. Going to start temping and relying on the calender fertile days a little more.
