Labor after cervical check?

Im currently 39w1d and had my cervix checked today. I was 75% thinned and at a 2. Tonight at 10pm I started having bad contractions and now they are ranging between 4-6 minutes and lasting about a minute. Is it possible for a cervical check to put me into labor? FTM so don't know what to expect!

How long have you been having the contractions 4-6 minutes apart? Cervical checks don't put you into laborn unless you get your membranes swept but it is possible that you're just going into labor bc you're ready. Sometimes after my cervical checks I would get bad contractions too but make sure they last at least 2 hours or aren't getting closer together. I had contractions 4 minutes apart but it ended up being false labor happens to us first time mommies a lot.

Update: the doctor actually swept my membrane at my appointment earlier and didn't tell me cause it doesn't work sometimes. But I'm now in labor and at a 4. T&P would be appreciated as I haven't slept in 24 hours!

Oh wow, I'm surprised a doctor would do something like that without telling the patient!!

Ummm.... I'd be finding a new Dr! I can't believe they did that without your knowledge or consent. I would be livid.

I went into labor that night, after a check...but when Dr was checking i had a contraction and she stretched my cervix from 2 to 3 cm and messed around with the sac to try to get things going. (Had membranes stripped the week before)

I'm with some of the previous posters I'd appreciate labor initiating but not without being told. C'mon doc, you should know better.

On a better note, good luck to you mama. Hope you're holding your LO soon !!
