Baby who rolls over.

I want to preface this post with the following:

I'm not a first time mom.  I don't actually think this is cool.  The whole point of having a little baby is that you can put them somewhere and they are still there when you do things like go to the bathroom.

My two month old is rolling over...back to front.  Its freaking me out.  I don't actually think she has the neck control to handle this.  How do I handle sleeping?  Do I sleep with one eye open?  Is anyone else having this issue.

Re: Baby who rolls over.

  • Where does your baby sleep? What is the worst that could happen if she rolls over while you are asleep?

My 8 week old is nowhere near rolling over. His pre-crawling readiness seems good during tummy time, and he tries to go forward when on his tummy, but has no concept of going from back to tummy yet.

Could you invest in a snuza hero or angelcare monitor to monitor breathing movements when shes asleep? I personally prefer our snuza and have stopped using angelcare. atleast then you can sleep knowing shes safe
  • Ours rolls too, but only when he's awake. When he's swaddled her can only make it to his side. Maybe your LO is the same...
  • They say that if they're able to roll over on their own then it's okay for them to sleep on their tummy. As far as the baby staying put when you need to do something I would put her in baby jail (AKA a pack-n-play).

  • This doesn't make much sense, rolling over is a good thing, and a milestone your Lo has met early.. Not sure why you are so concerned... No matter if they are rolling or not they should always be put in a safe place if you have to step away....I call MUD
  • Totally not trolling.  That is why I put that I'm not a first time mom and it just surprised me.  After observing her for a few days, she only does it when awake and I just need to keep a closer eye on her.

My concern is that she isn't strong enough to keep her head up and she rolls over in awkward positions (hand trapped underneath her, face planted in the mattress).  It just means I have to take her with me when doing things.  Thanks for the above advice.

Do you have a video monitor ? Where is LO sleeping
  • She is sleeping in a co sleeper next to me.  The only good thing is that she is grunter and she will grunt herself over and usually wake me up.  It does mean that I can't leave her to sleep in the  bedroom by herself.  She is quite pleased with herself and her new skill.  Mommy, not so amused!!
