Spotting & BC

Hi friends,

I'm new here but have been nosing around for a while, so forgive me if this isn't in the right section. I have been on the same birth control for 8 years. I take it before bed every night, although the exact times may vary. My period is like clock work and nothing about it has ever changed in years. I'm not supposed to start until next Wednesday (August 26) and I have been having dark brown/dark red spotting (very little Sunday, Monday, and today). Not enough for a tampon or anything. Is there any way I could be pregnant? The only other symptom that has really stood out is that I am exhausted every single day. Does anyone have any insight? Thanks!

There is possible chance of you being pregnant. However, if you're on very effective BC, there's a chance it could be the BC. Since BC Pills puts changes in your hormones, your period COULD change, which does happen with age. But if you don't have your period like you normally do, gvie it at least another week aftet that. If your period still hasn't started, THEN take a Pregnancy Test. That's the best info I can give you!

Also, our bodies change over time, and I was on ortho tri cyclen lo for years and had some spotting one month. My OB said it could've been the pack, but it happened again the next month and I needed up having to switch to ortho tri cyclen. The lo was not a high enough dosage for me anymore.

Your best bet would be to contact your prescribing doctor.

I had a similar problem that I've been bleeding/spotting in the 2nd & 3rd week of pills and then also the 4th week of placebo pills for several months now. I finally got to see my dr today for my annual exam and she said everything looks normal and I was on a low dose pill and we will try a stronger one and see if that helps. I'm sure I'm not pregnant though because we also use condoms on top of the pills just in case.
