Hi all! I'm new to this board, hoping over from the TTC board.

About me: 32 years old, married, TTC for about a year, both of my tubes are dilated at the ends so I was recently given the infertility diagnosis.

I'm starting my first round of IVF at the end of this month. I'm so excited but anxious! I'm getting confused about the timeline of everything and when I need to be where. My cycle should start on August 28th. I'll take BC for 2-3 weeks. When should I expect egg retrieval and transfer?

Hi! Welcome, sorry you have to be here. I just finished my 1st round of IVF. Waiting to take pregnancy test. I think typically, when you start your period, you call in for an appointment for the next day or the day after that. This is the baseline ultrasound. Here is where they decide what meds, and how much they think you need. You'll start those meds usually a few days after that ultrasound and that will last anywhere from 7-12 days. You'll have to go in for ultrasounds and blood work every 3 days or so (it's different for everyone). Once they see that you have a good number of mature follicles, you will "trigger". That's the shot, usually HCG, that will force ovulation. Within 36 hours of that shot you go for retrieval. Depending on how that goes, 3 days, or 5 days later you go for the transfer. Now, I'm no professional, and different people are on different protocols, but, this was my experience. From what I've read here, it's pretty typical.

You're welcome! My appointment is next Tuesday the 25th, first thing in the morning. One week down and one to go. Trying really hard not to take a hpt. My DH says for every day in the next week I don't test, he will reward me. Sounds like a good deal to me lol!

Good luck.mi hope you get your BFP with IVF! @krbjoy that is good incentive. Your DH is a smart man. I wonder if I can talk my DH into doing that for me after my IUI? Lol!

Good luck with your first cycle!  I'm glad your excited about it!  The the anxious feeling will go away after the first couple of days of injections, once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy from there! Wishing you all the best!

@AdorkablePixie Thanks!!! I think it's worth a try talking to you DH about a reward system. It could be a foot rub, a nice dinner, or for me, ice cream!!!

Waiting is the worst part! @ErikaMG your DH is creative, though! Maybe I'll drop some obvious hints to mine about this reward program.

Welcome welcome welcome! I'm so sorry you are here on this difficult journey, but hopeful that you have found the help you need and will have your happily ever after soon!

Yes, you will likely start stims on day 3 of your cycle if I'm remembering correctly. It can feel like one of the longest months of your life (and ends up being a bit longer than a typical month/cycle given the stims, trigger, retrieval, transfer, 2ww etc). Try your best to keep  positive outlook the whole time through and do things you enjoy. Focusing solely on the IVF can feel all consuming. It is exciting, and you are likely very hopeful (and should be!), but especially during the 2ww it'll be healthiest for you if you have something else to focus on.

Thanks for your sweet note @oxinfree ! Patience is definitely not my strong suit. It feels like I'm incapable of thinking about anything other than IVF and pregnancy. Taking control of my infertility feels empowering, though.

So...it's 9dpt, I'm 16 days past trigger, and 5 days until BETA. 

My DH, who was so supportive and was helping me to be patient enough to NOT take a hpt, totally gave in to his own weakness and suggested I take a test:

So, yesterday, I looked in the cabinet and had 2 hpt from like 2 years ago. One expired in April 2015, the other expired July 2015. I used them both. They both showed 2 lines. The second lines on both were faint, but there for sure. I was getting all excited...but then today I looked up how accurate an expired test is (because I can't stop running to Google every 5 minutes)...so then I panicked. I just went to the drug store and bought another box of tests (checked to be sure they weren't expired). That test showed BFP! Holy crap you guys. Is this real life? You think the trigger is long gone, right??? I don't know how to react. I'm afraid to call the dr. and bump up my beta because they said over and over to not take a htp.

@krbjoy Yaaaaayy! I'd be absolutely floored if it was still the trigger as my doctor told me i could home test 14 dp trigger. It sounds like good news to me! I would call them anyway. I think someone miscalculated your beta date and is making you wait an extra week. Worst case, they'll tell you to come in at the original beta and you can just continue to test at home. Let us know!!!!

@krbjoy it sounds like a BFP to me! I doubt the doctor would be surprised you took a hpt. So many people do! lol They probably get those calls a lot.

@krbjoy Sounds so exciting!!!! I'm new to the board but thought I might have some info to help.  I'm 7 days post trigger (1 day post transfer) and I took a pregnancy test this morning to make sure if I caved to take a hpt before my blood test (ok fine, when, not if) I wouldn't think it was still from the trigger!  My test was very negative, so at least for me, it seems like the trigger was out of my system a week later!

I just finished my first round of IVF as well. beta is on the 29th. So nervous.
