3rd Trimester

Baby Drop

I am currently 33 weeks and one day with my first baby. Yesterday, I realized that my baby bump has definitely moved. She has dropped quite a bit and I can definitely feel her about 6 inches lower than she was. My stepmom is saying that I need to take it easy since she's already dropped so early. To keep her in there as long as possible. (She's a very experienced nurse) I don't want to worry, but I can't help it really. Is this normal? Should I contact my doctor on Monday? My next appointment isn't until the 26th.

Re: Baby Drop

  • Dropping means nothing in regards to labor, from an experienced L/D and high risk perinatal RN my self.

Some women drop at 30 weeks and others drop while in labor.
    Thank God for Raid.

Like @PugsandKisses said some women drop earlier then others.
My baby is head down and super low and has been since my 30 week appointment, that doesn't mean I'll go early at all. It just means baby is in position to be born !
  • The only thing that sucked about my second child being head down and super low for a long time (besides the pain) was that she had a misshapen head and torticollis when she was born. She was that way for over 2 months before I gave birth at 40 weeks.
