Hey all!

I'm newbie here, and I am excited to be a part of the community! Looks like all you ladies are awesome!

The DH and I will we married 2 yrs in December. Our plan was to start trying around January, but I think the Lord has other plans in mind for us! I am pretty convinced I'm pregnant due to many symptoms showing up (totally wild chance to have conceived bc I was on the BCP and we were using condoms at the time since I was running out of BCP and didn't have a refill)... AF is supposed to show up tomorrow. I have taken 2 tests already, but both were negative. So if AF doesn't come I am planning on taking another test on Monday. Exciting and scary all at once!

I look forward to talking with you!

Re: Newbie Here!

  • I will definitely look up that book. I am currently off BCP because I ran out of refills and we just moved to a new state so I don't have a new Dr quite yet.

I know that you can have some side effects from coming off BCP that mimic pregnancy, so I have been conflicted as to whether I really could be or not. I've done research and the type of symptoms I am having are all common early pregnancy symptoms that can be experienced during the TWW. I had very easy periods (symptom wise) even before I got on the BCP, so I don't know if I would have such a strong reaction to coming off of it.

I've also read that some women haven't gotten a positive even until a couple days after their missed period, but I know it's different for everyone! So I guess its just a waiting game! If I don't get a BFP and AF doesn't come I will talk to my Dr when I find one here and see what's up. :)

    Thanks!

  • I went off BC while DH was on deployment last year and one thing I noticed was that my periods were way worse than on BC. Stronger cramps and heavier bleeding. That may be what's happening.

  • Welcome! Feel free to lurk around here and other boards! So many of these ladies have great advice. The science of our bodies is pretty fantastic.

I would definitely go off the answers of your tests. Hang in there. It can take some time for cycles to even back out once coming off BC.

Taking Charge of Your Fertility really is a great read and it can help you understand your body in the most amazing ways. Good luck!
  • Hi and welcome! We were also married in 2013 and will be starting TTC in December, so similar to your timeline!

I'm going to piggyback on what everyone else is saying- the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" has changed my world! I got off BC and have been using the charting method to avoid getting pregnant until we start trying in December. If you're still not on the BCP now you could start charting now.. All you need is a thermometer that measures to the hundredth of the degree (I got an $8 Mabis thermometer from Amazon).

Like others have said, this board is a great resource. Feel free to ask any and all questions and search the history of the board- there's so many questions I've had that I've been able to quickly answer thanks to this board.
