Trouble TTC

Hello! I'm a newbie!

Dh & I haven't used any protection for years. Except for when I get cysts then I go on bc pills. We finally went to a specialist and I did blood, ultrasound and did my hsg test last friday( which I'm still spotting from). The specialist saw that I have cervical stenosis and dilated me for the hsg test. The mri dr. Still had trouble but got it done. One of the blood tests showed that my levels for producing eggs is low. I'm 36. Funny this is I have a 10 year old son who obviously was a miracle. No one I know has ever done this so I don't have anyone really to talk to who's been through this. Any advise?

  • 10 years is a long time! Your body is probably totally different now :) (I know mine is!)

Welcome and good luck. Are you talking about your AMH and FSH numbers? Care to share what they were? Many women here have low numbers adn go on to have healthy babies, so don't lose hope!

  • FSH also varies throughout the cycle- mine looked low, but then I got my period a week later, so of course it was low (I have irregular cycles, so Dr didn't know what phase I was in). But even if you know your phase and its lowfor the phase, it can still work just fine, especially if your LH is in a good ratio with the FSH.

Best of luck, and welcome!! You can certainly come here to ask questions or vent :)

  • Thank you so much! I'm not sure if it was fsh but I did get my period a week later. It was .81 I believe. I read it quickly before doing another test. I have a meeting with specialist on the 31st. I don't know a lot of abbreviations yet since I'm knew to this lol.
  • I'm going to guess it was AMH then, not FSH. For your FSH, you'd want it to be low. Low means good quantity of eggs left. For AMH, you'd ideally want it to be over 1 - .81 is low, but women here have gotten pregnant with that number before! AMH is steady throughout your cycle, so it wouldn't matter when you took the test. It's not totally uncommon for a 36 year old to be showing lower egg reserves already. Chances are high that 10 years ago that number was much higher for you!

I wouldn't get too hung up the number though. There are plenty of factors that contribute to fertility. You can search here and find lots of low AMH success stories.
