post partum depression

Hi ladies,

Would I contact my OBGYN for help with post partum?  May be a silly question I just do not have a regular dr I see and the only dr I have had this last year was my OB.

Thanks in advance!

Re: post partum depression

  • I certainly don't think they would turn you away if you contacted them. They might not be able to help you but they should be able to help you find someone that can. Good luck!

  • Agreed. Reach out to OB, they have plenty of experience/knowledge of where to point you for best help. <3
  • Talk to your OB or even your LO's pediatrician. Both should be able to help or give you resources that can help.

Good for you for asking!!! It's the first step to taking care of yourself. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask people for help!
  • Yes, talk to your OB!  I had PPD/PPA with my first, and scheduled an appointment with my OB/GYN.  He was able to prescribe me Zoloft, which was fan-freaking-tastic. Seriously changed my life. :)
  • Thank you so much everyone!  My LO is almost 3 months and I am just sick of feeling like this.  I appreciate all the encouragement. :x
  • Ooh, yes, pediatricians should be able to help too! Mine was really into asking about my well-being for every appointment. They certainly care too! :)

Good luck to you! I hope you start feeling like yourself sooner rather than later :)
  • Agree with the PPs. My OBGYN and Ped both had me fill out surveys at each appointment asking me to rank my feelings. They should both be concerned about your mental health, for the wellbeing of you and your LO.

Hope you get help soon... I had some pretty bad baby blues for a couple of weeks, it's not fun! Thoughts are with you!
  • Thanks everyone...  xxoxoxoxox
