Freezing Milk

My husband took milk I pumped this morning out of the fridge tonight while I was gone, so it would be warm for LO. It was out for three hours. She never needed to eat. Can I freeze the milk?

  • TBH, I'd do it.  I know you're not supposed to re-freeze milk that has been heated up but this is different.  I don't have any hard facts on it; that's just my gut instinct.  Milk can definitely be okay for 3 hours at room temperature, which it wouldn't have been at for the whole time since it had been the fridge.  If it's gone off, you'd smell it.  Sometimes, when I'm freezing something a little questionable, I'll mark it with an asterisk.  Then when I thaw it out, I'll know to taste and smell it to make sure it's still good.  Also, if milk is gone off, baby usually will refuse it.  Again, I know that's not scientific but that's my two cents.
  • It was never cooled or frozen since you just pumped in the morning. Definitely fine to freeze.
