No heartbeat @8 weeks

according to my doctor if we go by the first day of my last cycle I should be 8 weeks 6days, but the baby is measuring at 6w2d and we saw no heartbeat. I was moved from one room to another and sent for more invasive ultrasounds. Almost 2 hours alone in the waiting area, a doctor told me the worst possible news. No heartbeat. I scheduled a follow up ultrasound for next Tuesday hoping that the dates were just wrong and the baby is just to small. Has anyone ever experienced a situation like this. Is there reason to believe that after another week we might see a heartbeat? My husband is out of the country and not due back for another 10 days and going through this alone is very overwhelming. I'm trying to stay positive while waiting but I have a sick feeling. Any advice would be helpful.

I am so sorry you have to be alone right now!

I had a similar situation where my baby measured at 6w1d and had no he when I went in at 7 weeks since LMP. Unfortunately it did not end well for me, but I have heard many stories where the baby did end up with a heartbeat after a little more time to grow.

Hope everything's goes well for you. Not trying to sound pessimistic, but I found out I was pregnant at 6wks and both of my babies had heartbeats.

   I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Sounds exactly like what I went through, but unfortunately I didn't have a positive outcome. I went in for my 8wk appt and the baby measured 6 weeks and had a hb of only 50bpm. The ultrasound tech told me I would most likely lose the baby. I waited two weeks to get rescanned...hoping that maybe since I knew I ovulated late - maybe the babys heart JUST started beating and that's why it was measuring small. But unfortunately at the 10wk rescan, there was no heartbeat and still no growth. I had a d&c the next day and if I can advise anything...lIF that happens, which I pray everything will be ok for you...but if it does, let your body handle it naturally. The D&C was absolute miserable, they left "products of conception" (I hate that term) and my body bled for 3 months. Took forever for me to recover from that. I'm not saying every D&C will turn out like mine...some go very smoothly. So it's a personal choice. But at your stage, which was exactly where I was at - isn't to far to necessarily require one. My doctor said when she went in to do the procedure, my cervix was open so my body was about to let it go. Wish I wasn't under anesthesia when she determined that, otherwise I wouldn't have gone through with it. Anyway, again I don't want to be a debbie downer, just giving you a heads up if you have to do down that road. But I really do hope and pray everything will be fine. I know exactly how you are feeling and that 2 week wait for me was grueling. Try to hang in there and if you need to vent, we are all here for you!

I am sorry you're going through this. The waiting is horrible. I found out yesterday that i miscarried after waiting two weeks. Two weeks ago I had heavy bleeding and went in. It was still there but measuring 12 days behind by my LMP. The wait it torture and your mind goes crazy. Sending you warm thoughts that everything works out for you.

Thank you all for your support and kind words, today we found out that I have miscarried what a lonely numbing feeling. My husband isn't home until Friday, but I'm surrounded by family. I wish you all the best and again thank you for your kind words of support.

I am so sorry for your loss. When I went in for my 1st ultrasound at 6 weeks, the baby had a very faint heartbeat and I had another sac but it was empty. They had me come back two weeks later (August 13th) at 8 weeks and we saw there was no heartbeat. I chose to have a D&C and had it done yesterday (August 18th) and it was very painful even with all of the medications and injections they gave me. I hope you don't have to experience that.

My body wouldn't let go on its own so to help things along my OB gave me Misoprostol to take at home. So yesterday at 6:45am I decided it was time. After 7hours of intense cramping and major back pain (which is how I laboured with my first pregnancy) the process started. From 2-8 I blacked out twice from the pain and the bleeding was like anything I've ever experienced before. I knew when I had passed the baby I slept on and off until 3 when I woke up with terrible lower back pain. I had to take 2 pan pills and my HB spent the morning pushing on my hips and back. It's 2:30pm and I'm very dizzy and tired but the pain is subsiding. Let's hope the worst is over and we can start healing emotionally. Happy to have my family here to support me.

I'm so sorry for your losses everyone. I had my scan the other day at 6 weeks 1 day and the gestational sac measured right on track and there was a yolk sac, except there was no baby. Having another scan this week to see if somehow a baby has shown up, buy doctor warned me not to get my hopes up. The waiting is the worst!
