Late ovulation and why it's helpful to bbt

I searched for other posts regarding late ovulation bbt and nothing has been posted recently (April was the most recent).

Here is an example for all those that are TTC for the first time and aren't temping yet. It may not be for everyone but I've found it extremely helpful. Last month I O'd on cd10. But due to stress I didn't o until cd20. While ovulating on cd20 is still extremely normal I just wanted to reassure those that haven't ovulated yet: don't worry, do not frantically Google and think you are having an anovulatory cycle or convince yourself you are infertile. just relax and let nature take its course.

Also, if I wasn't bbt at this point I would have probably taken a hpt test thinking my period is late and received a bfn. Stressing out even more...But now I know that if I do see AF, it will most likely be 2 weeks from now since my LP is about 14 days and does not vary from month to month. Usually only O can vary. Bbt also helps from not having to take a million hpt, informs you on when they will even work.

See my chart below. Prime example for just relax... Our bodies aren't always a strict schedule. Though some of us wish they were ;)

(Btw this isn't a question or anything. Just wanted to show how helpful bbt can be. I heart science)

  • @KyCat is cd22 your typical o date or at least somewhere around then?

  • Lol loved that show
  • @bulldogs824, this is only my 3rd cycle charting temps, so it's kind of hard to really say what's typical, but it is over a week later than when I O'd the past 2 months.
I think maybe I O'd later because I went out of town right around the time that FF was predicting my FW. I drove 16 hours in one weekend. TCOYF says stress and travel can delay ovulation, so that's my theory.

  • I just started temping after my second mc because even tho I've always had "normal" cycles I'm not 100% sure what my body is going to do with all these hormones. I'm really glad I started doing it even tho this is my first real cycle because last time I got a BFP I had no idea when I had O'd and I did end up testing too early. I got a bfn on Sunday and expected AF(in ignorance) no later than Tuesday or Wednesday that week. I got my BFP on Thursday after AF was a no show but I have no idea how many dpo I really was when I tested. This time around I have temps that show my O on CD 15 so I can enjoy my vacation without worrying if AF might make an appearance. AF shouldn't be here till we get back if I'm not ku.
