I feel like you might be asking if you lose weight early on / in the first tri (if not, I am confused by the question).
It is possible to lose weight early on. I think I lost 4# in my first tri with DS. (I gained 19 overall and was 1# below pre-pregnancy weight 8 days PP.)
Making a baby takes a lot of energy. Breastfeeding takes more. I think they say you burn an extra 500 cal / day when pregnant and 700 cal / day when breastfeeding. Or something close to that.
For me with my first one, I lost about 15 lbs in the first trimester and then I started gaining fast. I didn't try to lose or gain, it was just what my body was doing. I think it was a bit extreme but my OBGYN was not concerned. In the end everything was perfect -- me and baby
