Anyone else doubt their due date?

I am currently almost 37 weeks. I am receiving ultrasounds weekly and baby measures 3-4 weeks ahead, weighing 7lbs 7oz last week. My fundal height at my 36 week appt was 42 weeks. I just feel that our due date could be wrong dr is basing it off of first ultrasound. I had no menstrual cycle in November so I just can't help but wonder. Anyone else in the same boat?

Re: Anyone else doubt their due date?

  • Same! First ultrasound puts me at 34.5 weeks but he's measured larger the entire time. My LMP puts me at 36.6 weeks so it's a big difference

  • No, I know my date is right on even though baby is measuring 2.5-3 weeks early every time.
  • My LMP would put me a little over a week before my due date, but a first tri u/s is the most accurate determination, after that babies grow at different rates. I'm measuring 2 weeks ahead...

  • Yup!! They have me at 34 weeks (35 tomorrow) but based on her measurements over the course of the whole pregnancy I'm actually 36 (about to be 37)

My original EDD, I feel, is most accurate (9/5) but baby was measuring smaller at anatomy scan so midwife bumped EDD to 9/15. Uterus is measuring right on with the original EDD. I think baby was just small or measurements taken weren't accurate. All of my kids have been born within a week of the EDD so I'm not sweating it. Baby will come when she comes but I am personally going by the original EDD for my tickers and countdowns.

The first trimester dating ultrasound is the most accurate method of determining EDD since all babies tend to grow and develop at relatively the same rate at the beginning of gestation.  Throughout the second and third trimesters babies start growing at their own individual paces, they have growth spurts at different times and some babies are just smaller/larger than others.  The link I provided is much more in depth and describes certain scenarios in which your OB may be advised to considered changing EDD based on ultrasound and growth scan measurements.

  • I'm fairly certain mine is. Going by LMP I'm due 9/23 but I have shorter cycles and I'm pretty sure I conceived 12/23. I think he was measuring like 5 days ahead at the anatomy scan but doc didn't change the due date. He says I'm measuring right on track but I still feel like I'm going to be early. I used to tell people I'm due anywhere between 9/15 and 10/2 mostly because that's DH's bday and my bday. Anyways he's super low already and everyone at work keeps commenting on how low my belly looks. Most clients today gave me a look like my baby was gonna pop out any min!
  • I know mine is accurate because I know down to the day when I ovulated. I've been consistently measuring 2 weeks ahead, though.

My LMP period was Nov 27th and I have the same EDD 9/18 lol your due date is accurate according to your LMP because for my due date to be correct my LMP would have been 12/12 but I believe that's when I conceived instead. My whole thing is a complete mess haha
  • My EDD is 9/18 also based on my LMP and all ultrasounds so far have shown baby right on track. But I feel like my belly is small for being so close to the due date and I just have this intuition that she's going to be a week late. Lol.
  • My LMP was 12/26 and my EDD is 9/22. Baby has always measured right on target. My OB moved the EDD a few days after first scan.
  • I am super sure the date from my first scan was wrong because it placed conception during exam week....bahahaha, that's hilarious because there was no baby dancing exam week, also I am measuring right on target for my EDD from my cycle which is earlier than the EDD from my first scan.

  • I'm pretty sure my due date is correct, however baby has been measuring about 2 weeks ahead. I'm 35 weeks and the ultrasound measurements were closer to 37 weeks. I haven't gained any weight in the last 4-6 weeks....but my baby gained a pound. Ultrasound measured baby at almost 7 lbs. My doc is paranoid about having big babies. How accurate you think these tests are? They were off with my first pregnancy too.

My LMP was 12/3 which would make my due date 9/9 but at my first ultrasound I measured two weeks behind so my EDD is 9/23 which is waaaay more accurate as I would have conceived on New Year's Eve and that's the only time it could have happened :) baby measures right on track for 9/23 also.
  • Between the measuring of my fundal height and his measurements in ultrasound I am thinking we were wrong about the due date. Measuring all about 2 weeks ahead and for some reason I just have a gut feeling he is ready. I am 37 weeks now and measuring 39 1/2 and him approx. 9 pounds in there (obviously give or take a pound in either direction because of their error rate)... he is head down and next appointment we will see if he is engaged... but I have some kind of feeling he may be ready and I may not make my next ultrasound in two weeks.. (or hey...maybe its wishful thinking :))
  • Not this time, but when I was pregnant with DS I knew my dates were off. They never did an early dating u/s, and bounced my due date all around. I think by the end, I was given July 29, 19, 15 and the 9th. I ended up having him on July 5, and his cord was nearly calcified (overdue by 10+ days.).

I go to a different practice this time around (thank the Lord) and I feel like my due date is correct (18th), but I feel like she's coming about 2 weeks early. I'm expecting her Sept 5 for some reason!
