30 Day Shred and c-section

Has anyone who had a c-section doing crunches yet?  I really want to start 30 day shred and of course the doctor says listen to your body but I won't know until I try.  My abs don't hurt anymore but my incision is still a little "uncomfortable" not hurting though.  So, is anyone who had a c-section doing any real ab workouts yet?

Re: 30 Day Shred and c-section

  • I started doing the 30 day abs with other May ladies on Aug 1. We do planks, crunches, sit ups & leg lifts. I am 16 weeks pp (preemies) so probably further along in my recovery than most. My incision still burns at times and is somewhat uncomfortable. But I thought I'd try and see how it goes. So far, I can say the sit ups & cruches are really hard but just because my muscles are so out of shape, not because it actually hurts. The leg lifts hurt a bit in the beginning because they hit exactly where my c sec cut was. But I modified as needed and 12 days into the challenge, I have really felt the change and strengthening of those muscles as I can do them fine now, without modification or pain! I say give it a shot but listen closely to your body & definitely modify as needed.

  • Thanks! That's what I was thinking, the abs will hurt more than the incision
I'm 10 wks pp so I think I'll try the modified version this week.
  • Have you don't the 30 day shred before? I started it for the first time a week ago and it very intense! I find not so much with abs but with my arms and legs.

Yes, I did the full 30 days to kick start weight loss last new years then continued a few days a week rotating levels while also going to the gym. I absolutely love the workout and can't wait to start again.
  • I have no experience regarding the c-section. But I will say that I LOVE the 30 day shred. I've done it several times. If you've done it before then you know that there are modified versions of almost all the exercises. So do those until you feel more comfortable. And don't push yourself. If you need to spend more time on level 1 then do that.

I'm hoping to do the 30 day shred again. But I don't feel ready yet.
  • Well when you're ready I'll encourage you :). Its so worth it I am really hoping for similar results this go around. And yeah, I'll be starting modified level 1 with 2lb weights, no shame here.
  • The first time I did it I used water bottles instead of weights. I couldn't do it with the lowest weights I had. Haha! Whatever works right?
  • I've been doing crunches and working out for quite awhile now.  Sounds like common sense but just listen to your body.  If you are sore around your incision maybe cut back a little or do modified versions until you build that muscle back up.
  • I did level one today and it felt so great to get back into it. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought and I'm excited to keep going!
