DPO 16 - NO AF, BFN and had HCG shot

Hello ladies,

I am DPO 16 and no AF or symptoms of her coming.   I had an HCG shot with this round of 50mg clomid (22mm follicle on left ovary). 

My question is - with a pretty much "guaranteed" ovulation... should I be showing HCG in my testing?

I have read that sometimes people are off on when they ovulate - so that might be why it is so "late" to them - but I know when I ovulated because of the shot.

I know it's not over until AF comes - but I am trying not to get my hopes up. 

Anyone get a BFP after DPO 16 with an HCG shot?

The trigger shot should be out of your system within 14 days, so if you took a HPT between Monday and today (not sure exactly when you triggered) and it was positive, it should be accurate. The Hcg shot can increase the time between O and AF as it can increase your progesterone level. If you are getting a negative pregnancy test, I wouldn't lose hope as you aren't out until AF. You could always call your doctor and ask if and when they could order a beta test. Good luck!

Edited: I just noticed BFN in the name of the discussion. You're not out until AF, but you may want to call you doctor tomorrow if it still hasn't shown to see if he/she thinks a beta test should be done.

I see why you're asking this, but that's a really specific situation. Even those of us here who have been pregnant are unlikely to have been in that specific of a situation  

That said, while it's obviously unlikely you'd get a false negative that long after ovulation, it's not entirely impossible and you're not out until you're out. Did you use a digital or a non-digital? A digital can have a higher threshold for HCG than non-digitals, so if you're a slow starter ... 

I know it's hard, but you can't control anything at this point. Try not to stress too much

Thanks gals.  Since writing this post I have been cramping - seeming like AF is on her way.  I have been using non digitals and plan to use FRER in the AM.

I hadn't thought about my progesterone levels and the trigger shot extending the time between O and AF.

I will try not to stress... too much... :-)

update: Now going on DPO 18 with no AF and BFN (with using FRER test this AM)...the cramping did not lead to Aunt Flo.

Have you called your doctor? Maybe they can do a blood test or something to be sure if you are pregnant or not. Also, it could maybe be a cyst that is delaying AF?

18DPO with no AF would seriously mess with my head. Can you call your doctor? Have you tried a different brand pregnancy test? Have you scolded your ovaries for messing with you?

Update: DPO 20!!!! NO AF and BFN using FRER test.

Calling the Dr. tomorrow (Monday) to see what the plan is...thinking probably blood test.

My 1st cycle with Clomid (50) and no trigger shot did result in AF on DPO14.  That is why I am wondering if the HCG shot "did something" - that is the only thing that differs between the cycles.

@linne23 I hope you get your AF soon or something. Let us know what happens. I  know that clomid can also delay AF, so maybe that's it? But 20DPO is a lot, and since you had AF 14DPO before that's weird. I hope you get answers tomorrow!

I would be losing my mind! Is it at all possible there was no O? I hope your doctor can get you in tomorrow! I'm sure they'd understand how you are feeling and get you in ASAP.

Isn't life funny?

I went and got my blood test done this morning and about an hour after that I got my period.  What are the chances.

I am hoping they can at least tell if I ovulated or progesterone levels from the test so it wasn't a total waste.

So my question - what happened with the HCG Shot?

Hopefully the blood test has all the answers you want! Maybe your body wasn't ready for the HCG shot? I hope your doctor has the answer to that too.

AF just picks the best time to show up, without fail!!!!

That sounds so frustrating what happened to you I'm sorry AF arrived, have you heard back on the hormone results for the blood test?
