High-Risk Pregnancy

Lovenox and using after birth

I have used Lovenox before but not during pregnancy. This is my second pregnancy so I know about what happens after giving birth. I am being induced next week and was told to stop Lovenox 36 hours before and we will start at 6 hours after birth. My question is how does the blood thinner effect the bleeding after giving birth? I mean obviously it thins out your blood. But do you bleed more? Is it heavier, thinner, thicker? More cramp involved? I've been doing good all along but the end is near and I feel like I have more questions.

  • I have the same question. FTM and first time on lovenox.

I was on Lovenox last pregnancy and having no other pregnancy to compare it to, I can't say I noticed a major difference re: cramping/more unusual bleeding post-partum. I was on it 5 weeks post-partum and for me, it hampered my milk supply. I didn't find much literature on that, but from talking to others on Lovenox they noticed a similar effect. Best wishes for a smooth and "easy" delivery.
  • Thanks. I guess I will see what happens and maybe (if I can remember) update this post with my experiences so other mommies will have the info. :)
