Anyone else STILL having major tummy time issues??

So, when LO was very young, she didn't mind tummy time too much, she mostly just laid there. Once she was old enough to be more alert, she hated it. She still cries every time I try it (12.5 weeks). Sometimes she'll scream like I just killed her puppy... she is definitely not a fan. I do what I can... I try to replicate tummy time on my chest and in the boppy. She does a little better, but still just acts frustrated the whole time. I'm concerned that soon she will be old enough to where rolling over from front to back will be expected, and she can't do that on my chest or in the boppy.

I don't worry too much about neck control because she LOVES sitting up. Her favorite thing is just to hold herself up in a sitting position by grasping my thumbs. I just worry about rolling. Perhaps I'll just have to wait until she rolls from back to front? Maybe she won't hate it as much if she puts herself there!!

13 weeker here hates it more than ever. Like you said she didn't mind when she was new but ever since she's been alert she's screamed.

Yup my 13 week DD hates it. I'm concerned about neck control so am going to speak to my health visitor when I see her today

My eldest didn't enjoy tummy time at all ever. I'd still put him on his belly from time to time, wait a few seconds for him to start fussing, then helped him out. Needless to say that boy didn't have much tummy time. He didn't roll from back to tummy until he was nearly 5 months old, but then a few weeks later before he was 6m old he was crawling. Do try diff things to get baby to enjoy tummy time (tons of tips on the web) but my kid hit crawling and walking way earlier than his little friends so it's not a huge factor. At 4m my boy spent most of his awake time in the activity center.

12 weeks here and hates every minute of it. He's okay for a short while if I put his arms under him to help him lift his head. But if his arms are flat he just buries his head and grunts/cries/screams.

I actually read an article the other day that was saying how hard on kids tummy time is. We are putting them in an unnatural position that they didn't want to go to in the first place. They are being forced to use their muscles (that are still very weak at this point) just to be somewhat comfortable. Once our LO's can roll back to front they will likely enjoy tummy time more because they got there on their own.

That being said I don't think we should stop trying to do tummy time. But I don't force DS to do it maybe as often as I should. I feel bad for the little guy. When I get down on my belly just to look at him at his eye level I recognize how uncomfortable it must be.

My LO hated tummy time until recently (he's almost 16 weeks). What helped was that I started putting him either on the couch or the edge of the bed and I'd get down on the floor next to him so I was eye level with him. He seemed to like it better that way. Another thing that worked was doing tummy time facing another baby who was also doing tummy time. I'm part of a mommy baby group and he loves looking at other babies. When he saw this other baby lifting her head he lifted his head to watch her. Tummy time is still not his favorite but he doesn't scream right away any more. Hood luck- keep at it.

Mine hated it for a long time too, but I think she's figured out she's missing out somehow at looking at the world.  She actually cries now to go on her tummy to look at toys, so I alternate leaving her flat, and using a small tummy time pillow under her chest.  I think the desire is to roll, since she's working really hard at it now too.  Just keep trying best as you can - she does like having her favourite toy, or her little mirror in front of her to look at/bat at while she's on her tummy.

Mine hates it too so much that we definitely weren't even doing it once a day.  My mom visited this past weekend and asked if I was doing it and I told her no, he hates it.  She said, he will get over it.  Then she put him on his tummy and played with him.  He doesn't love it but I guess the point is he won't get used to it until I just start doing it more.  I like to put him on the bed as well so I can kneel down and be at face level with him.

5 minutes at a time. She hates it at 11 weeks. We just get through five minutes about 3-4 times a day.

How did you find your mommy group?! I reallyyy want to join one as I'm staying home but have no clue where to start!

My mommy baby group is sponsored by the hospital I delivered at. It's free to go weekly when your baby is 0-3 months and there is a nurse facilitator there to help answer questions and guide the weekly topic discussion. They also have a 3-6 month and a 6-9 month group. I went with baby #1 too and we started a playgroup with many of the moms in it - I still do playdates with some of these moms 3+ years later. If you don't have something like that I'd check Facebook for mom groups or meet up groups. I know we have several of those around here. I haven't joined any of those yet but I might consider it (although they are typically more for stay at home moms than working moms and I'm about to go back to work). Just search mom groups in your area.

14 wo and has always hated unless she was on my chest now she hates that too and just looks for milk lol, she rolled from back to tummy once and started crying afterwards

I could be wrong (certainly no expert!) but I *think* you're not supposed to use a boppy for tummy time until 4 mos. Maybe look into it?
