Do You Spot Before AF Following Trigger Shot?

I'm sorry this is long.

I'm officially on the couch crying. My hopes of a pregnancy this cycle are being dashed, despite not expecting to be. (Well, maybe I was subconsciously, but I really can't be held responsible for my subconscious because it's out of control.)  I am 11 days post trigger shot, so I'm assuming that's 10po. Is this assumption even accurate? I have been having breast tenderness and nipple sensitivity for days and yesterday I started bloating. I have been trying to mentally prepare myself for AF, especially given that I was experiencing such obvious symptoms and have just felt like it's coming.  Tonight, I started lightly spotting, brownish and mucousy. It basically broke my heart.

I have an incredibly irregular cycle and will spot anywhere from 3-7 days leading up to my periods. The spotting is brown and mucousy and gradually gets heavier. I will typically only have 2-7 periods a year, depending on the year. Since starting clomid in April, I have also required the use of either birth control or prometrium to bring on a period when clomid did not result in ovulation. On my last round of clomid, I did have 1 mature follicle. I gave myself the trigger shot on 7/31. Assuming I ovulated, this is the first period that was brought on by ovulation vs medication (previous doctors have suspected that I would have irregular periods, but not necessarily ovulate each cycle).

Is it normal to spot so far ahead of a period after ovulation or trigger shot? It's normal for me when things are't working, but I'm not sure how it should work following ovulation. I always assumed I had spotted for so long because of the irregularity. I would love to think it was implantation spotting, but I can't seem to find any information on the consistency being mucousy. Today, my co-worker (who just found out she is pregnant after YEARS of infertility) told me her symptoms were exactly like a period, including bloating leading up to her BFP. It got my hopes up for a minute, but I'm inclined to think this is a period, especially given that my breasts hurt less today. I know it's just a matter of days or maybe even hours before I'll know for sure and I should just be patient, but it's driving me batty.

If you're a spotter, how soon do you start spotting before your period? If you've experienced implantation spotting, was it ever mucousy?

I don't want to get your hopes up and asking if we think you could be pregnant is against the rules. The only way to know is to take a HPT in a few days.Good luck to you.

Everyone experiences implantation differently. I would also take a HPT in a few days if nothing else happens and call your doctor if you have any questions.

I'm still spotting this morning, so I know AF is coming. I was just surprised that I started spotting so soon. I don't know why I was thinking I would have fewer days of spotting with an actual ovulation. I know that only a test can tell me if I'm pregnant (and I didn't ask and break the rules regardless), but I was curious what other women have experienced in regards to spotting. I'm so frustrated. I'll be calling my doctor the first day of my period, per her instructions, to start all over again. I'm excited to have found a dose of clomid that induced ovulation, but I was really hoping I wouldn't need a next round.

Are you being monitored by an RE with Clomid? i think it's safe to assume no, since an RE would confirm ovulation? However, you do know how many follicles you had, so maybe you are being monitored?

Wasn't it you who just posted on another thread about how rude everyone here was? And now you're asking for help?

@kgbbsc7, I am being monitored by a specialist. She is not an RE, but is considered a fertility specialist (I live in a rural area, so, options are limited). I have regular ultrasounds and blood work. She is brilliant and has helped so many I know who struggled for a long time.

@walbs, yes, I did say SOME women are rude. I did not say everyone. I also said I have received some helpful and kind responses from others. This is something I have noticed while lurking. I see women writing responses I doubt they would be so callous or rude to say face to face. I don't think that forming an opinion that some women here who comment in a not so diplomatic fashion should prevent me from asking about the spotting experiences of women who would like to contribute to the conversation.
