Moving across states

so I'm having to move across states, from California to Texas. Very well within the next couple of weeks maybe unless we can find someone to help us out. Is there anything that I should look out for? I'm already cleared by my doc but I'm nervous as hell and fusterated at the same time. Help??

  • You're not the only one on this board in this position. There have been a few threads about moving so I'd suggest using the search feature and you'll find some great advice.

Essentially, hire movers, and if you're driving to your destination, take frequent breaks for walks, drink plenty of water, and pack snacks. Good luck.

  • We moved from California to Wisconsin this past December. Definitely hire movers, plan your stops ahead of time (esp where you plan to stay the night). We stayed at Holiday Inn's because they let you do a late check out (if you need to sleep a couple of extra hours), the hotels are clean and they offer free breakfast.
Make sure you have your car registration and insurance cards up to date and within reach.
Try not to be nervous. Try to make it fun bu bringing good music, talk to your SO.
    Good luck!
  • ok thanks guys! this is a great help. were driving out, but were not moving a house or anything just a small one bedroom, with no furniture. going to be staying at my mother in laws so we will have all that out there. is there any rest stops along the way that you would reccomend? what should i pack for snacks? is having a case of water good? and what are the rates for a single night stay at a hotel, on the border of new mexico/texas? or is it better to drive straight through? heading to Kerrville Texas for anyone that knows where that is
