Sunburned belly button

So I went swimming yesterday, and yes I put on 50 spf sunscreen so as not to burn (did anyway) but the main thing that burned big time was my newly popped out belly button that has never seen the light of day before. I currently look like Rudolph the Red Nosed reindeer is trying to break free from my stomach. Oh, the joys of pregnancy. Moral of the story, unless you want a tomatoe growing on your belly, put copious amounts of sunscreen on your belly button...... awkward.

Re: Sunburned belly button

  • Oh no! I hope it feels better soon. I hear that honey can help. Maybe somebody mentions it in the natural remedies thread?

  • Don't know about honey but strong brewed tea always helps me. You boil a couple cups of water and get some black tea (black and orange pekoe works okay too) Put about 6-8 bags in there after the water boils, turn it off. Let it set until it's cool, should be very black and concentrated. Then you can soak a wash cloth (use one you don't mind staining!) in there and lay it (don't rub it!) on wherever there are harsh sunburns. Squeeze out the tea over the sun burned areas as well, don't wash off for a couple hours. Repeat as needed. Works wonders, I burn so easily and used this when I ended up with blisters one time, in a day or two it felt wonderful.
  • Ouch! that sounds painful. Thanks for the notice, I'll have to remember that. Mine isn't popped out yet but it's a large, shallow crater so i imagine it could get sunburned.
