2nd Trimester

Rear Ended at 17 weeks

Yesterday I was rear ended on my way to work. I went to the Doctors after and they made sure I wasn't having any contractions (which I wasn't). They told me that if I see blood or any fluid leaking to come back. This morning when I stand up I notice the tiniest feeling of leaking fluid. During the car accident I looked down to notice my pants were soaked, it was hot, i was in jeans, I was sweating everywhere. So my mom, who came to the scene of the accident, assumed it was sweat...or that I peed my pants during impact due to pressure on the bladder...it dried up halfway thru the doctors visit so I didn't say anything to them about it. Should I go back today for this slight leakage? There is no blood, and no contractions, just the tiniest of spotting fluid. Not even the size of a penny

  • So sorry that you are going though this! If I were you, I would at the very least call my doctor. Most of us aren't trained medical professionals, so I would hate for you to miss out on that expertise. Hope everything turns out ok!

  • Hope everything's okay with you and the LO! As @hailees said you should contact your doctor
  • People really need to stop texting while they drive, first of all.. (which is how most rear endings occur these days) Here is a tip as to whether or not you should text. If you're texting while driving, you're not clever enough to text while driving.

Now, leaking fluid IS pretty normal during pregnancy :) Especially this trimester. But i know the fear. I had a gush of fluid a few weeks ago and went to the doctor. She did a swab to see if i had leaked any amniotic fluid. There is a test they can do to see if you leaked any. Did they do this? I bet it would put your mind at ease.
  • @groovylocks are accusing OP of texting and driving? That is how your post comes off, which is rude and unwarranted.
@mtripp16 I would also suggest that you call your OB just so they are aware. Glad to hear that you and your LO are okay.

I'm lost...what are you even talking about ? The whole section in yellow makes no sense in regards to what OP actually posted. I'm confused why such an assumption would have been made anyone texting while driving. Now the section in blue....umm she said she was just in a car accident....so no leaking fluid, for her is NOT pretty normal. It even said in the original post that she was told to go back to the doc/ER if she saw any leaking fluid. I'm not sure where you got any of this "it's normal to leak fluid" info from. May you please share your sources? This seems a little disturbing, as does the advice you gave....

OP I agree with @hplunkett2883, I hope you've called your OB. If not, do so now, and have your OB instruct you on how to move forward. I'm glad your okay and that the accident wasn't worse. Hopefully this is nothing serious.

  • Fluid leakage is NOT normal and indicates a potential rupture if the amniotic sack. This is why at every appointment we ask if you have had a loss of fluid. Call your OB and discuss what happened and your concerns.

Discharge of a white or creamy color IS normal but will not make it appear you have wet yourself.

No.... The person that rear ended her. This is the cause of a lot of rear endings. ANYWAY op I'm glad you're ok. Keep us updated.
  • It is not normal to lose fluid op. It's normal to have discharge. This is what I mean. If it's a tiny dribble of discharge then this is within the realm of normal.

I hope that provides sufficient detail and I'm sorry if you thought I meant gushing liquid.

In any event get it checked if you're at all concerned.

So you're assuming? My father always told me to never assume because it makes an @$$ out of you and me :)
