We had our first ultrasound this morning and are currently pregnant with triplets - there were 3 yolk sacs! However I say "currently" because the first sac the Dr. could hardly see anything in it - he said this could mean there isn't a
fetal pole or it could mean the fetal pole was too close to the edge and was hard to see at this point. The second sac he could see something but it was hard to distinguish it as a definite fetal pole, but he could see some movement. And the third sac was similar to the second with seeing somewhat of a fetal pole but he saw more movement/heartbeat flicker in this one. He calculated that I am 6w0d - he said he typically likes to see more but that it isn't abnormal to see what we see at this point. Anyone have similar experiences? What did you see at 6w0d? I know one day can make such a huge difference especially this early on....but of course I'm nervous. We go back
next Tuesday for another ultrasound where he hopes we can get a clearer picture. Dr. said his gut reaction is that we will be pg with twins - that the first one isn't there or won't continue growing. Our IVF coordinator/nurse told us that with multiples that things can be smaller and possibly harder to see this early on....anyone with twins or triplets see/heard of this? Or experienced this same thing at your first u/s? Any feedback would be appreciated and would help calm my nerves until next week!! Thanks so much
Re: U/S at 6w0d - what did you see?
At 6w and a couple of days (I forget how many exactly) we saw 1 sac, 1 fetal pole, 1 heartbeat.
Imagine our surprise when we saw 2 babies and 2 sacs at 9w!
Hang in there! I know how hard it is, but there's a good chance you'll see a lot more in a few weeks
At 6w4d we saw 2 sacs and only 1 fetal pole. At 9 weeks we saw both babies!
Good luck and happy and healthy 9 months to you!
At 6w2d we saw two distinct saks and heartbeats. But the heart starts beating right around 6 wks, so it's very possible the other two hearts could have started beating already! I would wait until your next appointment, I'm sure things will be much more clear.
