Babies in daycare

I start back at work on Thursday :(( and my LO will be starting at a small in home daycare. I absolutely adore the lady that will be taking care of her.

We have a pretty good thing going here at home! She takes amazing naps and sleeps from about 8-6/6:30. I know there will always be an adjustment period when you change things up, I'm just wondering what some of your experiences have been so far. How long did it take for your LO to adjust? Are they still adjusting?

I just need some reassurance. I'm getting some pretty good anxiety about things getting super hard when she starts going. I've really been enjoying my sleep! Haha

Re: Babies in daycare

  • My LO was 9 weeks old when he starts d, and had just begun sleeping through the night the previous week. When he started daycare, he was pretty high needs again for the first week and a half (would nurse frantically from 6-9:30 each evening) and started waking up every 2-3 hrs to eat at night. He adjusted slowly, and we are now on week 4 of daycare and have reached a happy medium. I take him immediately when I get home around 6:30 and we nurse and have about an hour of undivided mama time--then he is pretty calm until bed. He now wakes up once in the night to eat, and his long stretch of sleep is again starting to lengthen out to 5-6 hrs some nights. My advice to you would be not to stress over any "regression" that happens for the first two weeks...she will adjust in her own time. If your LO is formula fed, some of my experiences may not even apply!
