TTC after still birth

Just curious when your doctors gave you the go ahead to TTC after a delivery? I gave birth to my sleeping son at 24 weeks almost 2 weeks ago. I don't want to get pregnant to replace him, but my husband and I are ready to move forward and realize that the desire to have a healthy baby outweighs the fear that it will happen again. I didn't dilate more than a 4 and had no troubles during the birth and the cause was an accident with the umbilical cord. I want to try again but nervous for how long the doctor will say to wait!!

Hi, I am so sorry for the loss of your little boy. I had a stillborn daughter at 28 weeks and we were advised to wait 3 months before ttc a sibling. They told me to continue taking my prenatals to help replenish what I had lost and to give my body some time to get back to normal. I have heard some women say they were told to wait 6 months or a year, so listen to your dr. because they know your specific situation better.

    Best of luck to you.

  • I had a stillborn 6 years ago, also at 24 weeks. My advise to you is to wait at least 3 months. Your body needs time to regulate itself – not to mention you really need time to process everything that has happened. I would suggest giving yourself some time knowing what you have to look forward to. Your hormones are in pp mode right now. And from an emotional standpoint, you are still in emergency mode. Give yourself time to heal, hun. (((hugs))) I am so sorry for your loss.

  • Im so sorry for your loss. I'm new to this group as well. We delivered our daughter three weeks ago stillborn at 30 weeks. We are planning to start trying right away and were told a minimum of two cycles but my doctor said ideally six months would be preferred since I had gone through actual labor. We plan to follow the two cycles like she requested to ensure there will be no complications from not waiting. Best of luck and again I'm so sorry for your loss.
  • Hey ladies! Thanks for your responses! My dr told me one period and we were good to go! Now I'm just wondering how long that will take to come!!
