Is anyone else keeping track...

...of feedings, dirty/wet/mixed diapers, and/or pumping?

I've been using this app, baby tracker, that makes it super easy and has awesome summaries, charts, etc.

The question is, though, when do I stop? After the two week check up? Month check up?

Re: Is anyone else keeping track...

  • I did that with my first DS for the first week but unless the doctor has told you too do it past that then I wouldn't worry too much unless you start noticing a lack of pee diapers or too many poop diapers or constipation, and then you can just mention to the doctor or call if concerned. This little gal was in the nicu Her first week and was peeing and pooping just fine when discharged so Havnt had to do any charting this time around :) but do what feels right for you!!

  • I stopped recording diapers after about 2 weeks and stopped recording feedings a day or 2 later. She eats every 1-3 hours and needs a new diaper almost every feeding so I know she has enough of both. Up to you how long to keep track.
  • I am writing it down still...LO will be 2 weeks on Tuesday
  • I'm also still writing it down LO is 4 weeks. It helps DH and I stay on the same page. We know when she ate, how much, and her diaper situation without asking each other. If I take one feeding and he takes the next we know everything. It works for us.
  • I use the app sprout baby. It lets me know how long since the last whatever, so I know if I have time to eat or what have you before the next feeding or pumping session.

  • I use an app called Baby Feed that I would highly recommend! Stopped with diapers at 1 month, and I will stop recording feedings soon.
  • I have an Itzbeen timer. I use it mostly just for feedings...and even then, mostly just at night.

  • @beeish I totally agree with you! Keeps daddy informed
  • Thanks Ladies! I'll probably stop after our appt tomorrow. Although it's pretty cool seeing all of the stats right there and be able to compare how much he was eating day 3 vs day 15!

  • Not keeping tracking of anything. Just feeding on demand (10-16 times a dayish) and changing lots and lots of diapers. im nursing so not a lot for dh to do.
  • I just use a pen and paper. Stopped tracking diapers at two weeks, but I'm still recording feedings. I like to see if there are patterns in how long he feeds and make sure I know how often he's eating, and that he's not going longer than every three hours during the day and four hours at night. Just helps me make sure.
  • I haven't really been tracking them. I just keep a mental note. We just had our one month check up last week, and they still asked us how often he was eating and how many wet/dirty diapers he was having. They probably will continue to ask for a while.
  • I do it only because I have three and have a hard time remembering who was fed and changed when. My two youngest are in diapers so I actually keep track of both in a notebook on the counter so I make sure everyone is staying fresh and dry.
  • I used the Medela app for the first week or so. Once my milk supply came in,I knew he was getting enough and I stopped tracking.

  • We are using the Baby Connect app. My husband works nights, so it's a good way we can communicate to each other about our LO.
Our baby is 6 weeks old.
  • I still keep track using the feed baby app. My LO will be 5 weeks old on Wednesday. My husband has slacked on tracking anything, but mostly I like to track his feeds. It's a good way for me to get an estimate of how long he's eating. Plus it lets me know which side I fed on last. I'm not sure when I'll stop. I figure I paid for the app might as well use it.
  • I track feeds only in momma baby ap. I would never know when he ate last without it...especially at night.
  • I can't remember anything anymore, so I've really liked the What to Expect app called Baby Tracker. Makes me feel better to look back on the day and make sure she's had enough diapers and feedings.
  • 6 weeks tomorrow and I've stopped. I think it made me a little neurotic. At this point, I feed him on demand and know his hunger cues. When it comes to diapering, he goes a lot, so I'm not counting. One less stressful thing.

Yes.. I do feel a bit neurotic! But I can't bring myself to stop yet Especially now that I'm trying to transition back to the breast instead of exclusively pumping
