Husband and I can't agree on a girls name

Hello everyone! My husband and I are having a terrible time agreeing on a girls name. Our naming styles are just so different... He likes names like Mae, Lily Ann, and Meadow. While I like names that are a bit more feminine like Isla, Vivienne, Juliette. Some names we both are ok with are Charlotte, Delilah, Cecilia, and Lucie. However I don't want a name that will be top 30 and I feel like nothing really feels "right" except Charlotte but it's is just too popular right now. Does anyone have any suggestions of names we both may agree on but maybe haven't thought of? I feel ridiculous but It's really stressing me out! Naming a human is hard work! Lol

Middle names we are considering are either James or Belle (both family names) thank you so much in advance!

Please avoid James as a MN.  Though it seems to be the "trendy" thing to do right now (something you're trying to avoid, correct?), it in no way feminine.  I also can't get behind YH suggestion of Meadow.

Love Vivienne and Lily... maybe a combo - Lillian, nn Lily?  Lillian Belle would flow nicely IMO.  I also really like Charlotte but agree it's pretty trendy right now.

    Edit: spelling

  • I agree, I thought Meadow was pretty awful and I am leaning more towards Belle as a middle name. I was thinking that because my names tend to be pretty frilly, James as a middle name would ground them a bit? But yes I do want to stay away from anything too trendy so maybe we will save that one for a middle name if we have a boy down the road :)

Really liking both suggestions Liliann Belle, and Cecilia Belle. I'll run them by my husband later this evening.

  • A masculine middle name is not a good way to even out a frilly first name. There are lots of female names that aren't frilly (Ruth, Therese, Jean, Anne).. Cecilia Belle is a gorgeous name for a little girl that she can grow into and IMO it is not too frilly.

  • Hmmmm...it seems like your husband is drawn to nature themed names (Lily, meadow) can you compromise on something similar that's in the same family, but less flowery?

    Brooke
    Arden
    Ivy
    Iris
    Laurel
    wren
    willow
  • If you like Cecilia, what about Cordelia?
  • Well, i love meadow! lol i think it is pretty. I also love juliette

    juliette Meadow gets my vote.
  • I think if you wouldn't consider Belle as a middle name for a possible son, you shouldn't consider James as a middle name for a daughter.

Of your options, I like Delilah Belle and Cecilia Belle the most.

Other nature names that might work for you

    Celeste
    Lavender
    Liliana
    Camille
    Iris
    Jasmine

Names with Belle in them that might satisfy your family name and then allow for a nature middle name

    Annabelle
    Christabel

  • Scarlett Belle (Similar to Charlotte)
    Daphne Belle
    Anya Belle
    Layla Belle
    Maya Belle
    Vanessa Belle
    Calista Belle
    Evangeline Belle
  • Cecelia is a nice name, it was on our list if baby had been a girl. However, there is a hit on the radio out now called Cecilia's Satellite and I am predicting the name will boom in popularity in the next couple of years.
