Mothball smell

does anyone have any good solutions for removing the smell of mothballs from clothes? We've had our baby stuff in a storage unit and even though they were sealed up in plastic bins, they smell like mothballs. I've tried washing in oxy clean and then vinegar. Neither one got rid of it.

Oh my. I'd say if they still smell consider getting some new clothes. I don't think there is much else you could have done to get the smell out. Good luck.

I'd air the clothes out for a few days and then try washing them with vinegar again before you decide to chuck them.

Maybe wash in vingar and set out to dry in the sun. It helps with smoke smell.

I had a couple of old chairs that reeked of mothballs, I sprayed an entire bottle of febreze over them and that seemed to work...

^^chairs maybe but I wouldn't spray Febreze on baby clothes. Are you trying to get the smell out of clothes or furniture?

I'd try baking soda. Put about half a box in the washer load. Then I'd try washing them again with some vinegar.

Sure but I would then wash them a couple of times afterwards to get the febreze out! Depends how much she wants to keep them I guess

Try putting them in a bag with baking soda and seal it and leave for a couple of days, then try washing them again with oxyclean, it may take a few dashes and airing out to get rid of the smell

I was given a bag of musty smelling clothes and I did a warm wash with regular detergent, then paused the cycle and added a cup of white vinegar to soak for an hour or two. Continued the wash and then hung in the sun to dry. Et voila! Smelled like new again!
