UGGG, Dental issues not sure how to handle

Just when things are bad they get infinitly worse! DS is really sick, barely slept last night and is having difficulty sleeping tonite. Will not sleep in his crib, has to sleep on someone. So after a night of basically no sleep, I'm sitting eating dinner and my entire crown plus post falls out of one of my molars.. yay! Now i have a big gaping hole in my mouth and absolutely no clue what to do. I don't think my dentist is open on Saturdays so I'm probably stuck until Monday. Any advice? I don't think I can use temporary cement because there's barely any of the tooth to adhere it to. I'm not even sure how it stayed in for this long!

Re: UGGG, Dental issues not sure how to handle

  • I'd leave it out so it doesn't fall off again/you accidentally swallow it. I'd call the office, your dentist should be on call. If you're not in pain he probably won't consider it an emergency, but he'll have a heads up that he needs to work you in on Monday. Mine was loose once and I had to go in, have it removed, cleaned up and put back on.
  • Well, found a dentist close by who was open today and she said the crown would never stay in if she tried to recement it, and as I suspected it should have never been done in the first place because there's basically no exsisting tooth left. She did a temp filing and once babies here I'll have to see an oral surgeon.

She did commiserate about how having babies ruin your teeth! Man don't I know it!

  • I didn't want to tell you that, but that's what happened to me! I barely had any tooth left, especially after he cleaned it up, so it wasn't the simple "recement it" that I thought it'd be.
