Headache..?

I'm not one to have headaches.. I mentioned to the doc at my appt on tues that I've been getting "twinkles" more frequently (had them at the start of my pregnancy but had them 4x last week). I feel completely fine when I get them though so doc said not to worry. My BP has been perfect, no problems with my protein, etc. doc said to just watch for signs of swelling or headaches. Well today, I feel like absolute crude and have had a "headache" just about all day (no twinkles though). I put that in " because it's just a discomfort, nothing I'd complain about on a normal day. I haven't been sleeping well, been working a lot, sweating a lot n constantly hot and am just plain exhausted today. I also have no patience, which is not my nature since being preggo. I feel like if I just go to bed early and get a good nights rest, I'll be fine tomorrow. Has anyone had experiences with concerns about twinkles and/or headaches (again im not getting them at the same time)? Does this seem like a concern to call the doc? I really don't think it does but then again I don't wanna be missing a sign. TIA

  • I don't know what you mean by twinkles. I get headaches fairly frequently lately... And most of your other symptoms seem in line with the misery of late pregnancy. But if you fell in your gut that something is off, you should call your doc

Twinkles in my eyes.. Like little snow flakes or lights. Hard to explain. I really think it's more of just things catching up to me and don't really think it's anything too major. I'm gonna try to hydrate n get a good nights sleep (those 2 things may fight each other lol). If I feel the same or worse in the morning or during the night, I'll call doc.
  • I had a lot of that while I was pregnat. My doctor thought it was tension headaches & taught me some techniques on how to rub my neck/or have my husband rub my neck and it really helped. Plus sometimes some tylenol & a little caffeine would help. Sounds pretty normal to me but if it's still really bothering you I would talk to your doc again.
  • I'm clenching my teeth a lot and getting tension headaches, I wonder if your 'twinkles' are more indicative of a migraine though? Best to let DR know
  • Thanks ladies for ur advice and experiences! I just woke up and already feeling 10x better. Hopefully it continues :-)
  • I have had migraines all my life. I get "twinkles" nausea vomiting the whole nine. Always worse in the summer with the heat and dehydration and lack of sleep. Always good to let the doc know but if he isn't concerned. Try to drink more and get some more sleep. I also take Tylenol at the first inkling of headache maybe as soon as you see a twinkle? If I don't catch it at first sign nothing help. Headaches are the worst. Good luck

Thanks for the advice! When I get my twinkles, I get no other symptoms. I feel totally fine. It's very bizarre. Yesterday was def a bad day tho. I did drink a lot of water n got a fairly good night's rest. I'm not a medicine type person but I did almost consider Tylenol yest seeing as I felt. Thankfully I made it thru without. I'm hoping today is a better day!
  • I get both but not together. I talked to my doc and he said the same thing, since my bp is and has always been fine, he's not worried. He said the recent headaches are probably due to a shift in hormones at this point in the pregnancy. I get the twinkles randomly or if my blood pressure drops quickly. It's happened all my life. My doc said combining Tylenol with caffeine is the best bet to get rid of the headache. I hope you feel better!!
