TTC after 35

Sonohysterogram results

Hey ladies,
Just got back from my sonohysterogram and got great results.
Uterine lining is excellent and no blockages.
It was less painful than I expected, I had some pinching and cramping. I did take 4 ibuprofen before the appt.
I'm cramping now and having a bit of spotting; dark pink and brown. Gonna just take it easy today.

All that's left (at this point) is SO's bloodwork to rule out chromosomal factors.

I'm thinking I'm going to be getting on his insurance soon, as well. I have been really struggling with my dr. and feeling unheard.
Time for new starts and new perspectives.
;)

Re: Sonohysterogram results

  • I'm glad to hear that it all went well! I'm not sure if you've talked about this already, but has your SO gotten his sperm checked? Or is that what he's going to get done? Switching dr.s is sometimes a really good thing. I see my new RE on Tuesday and can't wait!

  • Thanks @jilligan14 the blood work is to rule out chromosomal abnormalities. Is there another reason to test the actual sperm unless you're worried about count and/or mobility?

And I'm really excited for you!!!

  • I don't know. I think count and motility are the main reasons. I just know that they always recommend getting sperm looked at as well, just to know what's going on. And if it's low, there are ways to help boost it.

  • @jilligan14 , thank you
Yea, I don't know what his dr will want to do at this point. My dr has only recommended the bloodwork so far.
We have gotten pg 3 times in the past 3 years, but miscarried unfortunately.
I would assume because we have gotten pg we wouldn't be concerned with sperm count or motility.
It's like a whole new game looking at it from his lens.
I feel oddly protective of him.

  • Oh, well it sounds like you have no problem getting pregnant with him so I'm sure his sperm is ok. I hope all the blood work comes back normal. It's so hard trying to figure out the cause of these things. I think docs are just as stumped!

  • @thistle8677 that's great news! Sounds like you are in the same boat we are in. Praying you get all positive results.
  • The good news is my dr. sent me the report that my lining is smooth and normal thickness. She also said she'd prescribe progesterone if I am able to conceive again.

  • Finally! Is this the same doc who wouldn't prescribe progesterone before @thistle8677?  Or are you seeing a RE now?  I'm sorry, having a hard time remembering stuff today (I worked overnight last night).

12/2015: IVF #1 transferred two great looking embryos - BFP!
First ultrasound: TWO beautiful little heartbeats!!
Harmony: negative; level 2: babies look great and are boy/girl! :)
  • @emsmama15 same dr! I kind of freaked on her prior to the sonohysterogram and she looked into an RE for me (even though she feels like I don't have an issue getting pg and even if I have PCOS, I'm still getting a period...).
The issue is my insurance. Mine won't cover an RE so we are thinking about adding me to SO's insurance. The thing is, this makes life a lot more expensive for us. I have other medical issues with a movement disorder, which includes migraines and muscle spasms, so I worry about having to pay out of pocket for that.

I'm hoping I just get pg and she'll give me progesterone and I can stop miscarrying.
Geezus. It makes me so mad I had to lose 3 in a row....
I could have had a successful pg and/or child by now.

  • I don't blame you at all @thistle8677.  I'd be royally pissed if I were you.  I also hope that you can get pregnant, take the progesterone, and carry the child to term.  I also think it's kind of BS for her to say you don't have an issue.  Repeated pregnancy loss IS an issue and she should be looking into it.  You shouldn't have to freak on her.  I'm sorry.  I have an amazing OB and RE and I just feel like EVERYONE should have that opportunity.  I'm also a NP, so it really makes me mad when I hear about people getting sub-par care and/or not being listened to by their providers.  It's just NEVER okay.  UGH!  I hope you're on the right track now.

  • @emsmama15 thank you for your words. That's awesome you're an NP! I do think it's time to get a new provider. I'm 38 next month. Enough is enough. A proper diagnosis of PCOS is in order, and I should be given the right medical care.
I'm so emotional right now. Hopefully that means O is around the corner.
I feel like I can't shoulder the struggle right now.

  • You'll get through this @thistle8677 . Easier said than done but I promise you will. Stay focused and if you need to find a new RE or OB I most definitely would.
