2nd Trimester

Feeling of Being Watched

I woke up around 3 am last night, because I got a feeling that I was being watched. I looked up and saw the bathroom door open, about 6 inches. We always! close all doors in our room.

About two weeks ago, my husband went out that night, and I was alone at home. I'm cutting fruit to make him a late night snack, and I got the feeling that someone that was watching me from behind, from our room (where the lights were off).

Is anyone else getting feelings that they are being watched? Like a paranormal thing? Maybe they want to take over our baby's life! Eeek!

  • I have been having some odd paranoid feelings. Apparently its a not uncommon side effect of all the hormones? I just make sure I lock the doors when I'm home so I can talk myself out of that uncomfortable feeling.
  • I think anxiety and paranoia ARE normal during pregnancy but feelings of being watched and potential paranormal activity are not.

  • Oh dead serious. Does anyone have the number to a priest who does fetus exorcisms?

  • Lmao! Yea, I hope everyone knows I was kidding :)

Do feel like I'm being watched, but I hardly believe in a "higher power," much less ghosts or demons.
  • Has anyone seen the movie "Hell Baby"? It's hilarious.
  • I have always had those feelings. Even PRE Pregnancy! And I stay AWAY from paranormal movies and shows, too. The best thing to do, is reassure yourself that everything is ok. Oh, and as one who has some experience in this all, paranormal or not, get your gas lines checked. ;) Usually, a gas leak will cause the feeling of uneasiness, which can lead to the feeling of being watched, nausea, and even light headedness!

Yes. I'm a HUGE paranormal junkie. And even with experiences in it all, I ALWAYS try to debunk the occurrence, before I finally set it out as "Paranormal"! :)

Yeah I'm with @groovylocks - all joking aside, you and your partner need to become very aware of symptoms indicating post-partum psychosis so you both know what to watch for in your behaviour over the next 12-18 months. This is a real thing and very serious, and you may find that you're already showing some risk factors (again, this is coming from a place of zero judgment, only concern that we're all educated).

I know you can distinguish between your paranoias and reality now with no problem, but with the hormonal changes and sleep deptivation coming in the near future for all of us, it's smart to be extra aware of where that line is.

I mean if you're just joking that's one thing, op. But yeah. There is nothing to be ashamed of here. Lots of us have similar troubles in one way or another when we're pregnant. :) A friend of mine had some weird episodes after delivery. She had trouble seeking help because, well, they were episodes and their hallmark is that she was unable to view them as not real.

Also, imagine the worst case scenario - somebody has broken into your house or something crazy like that. Don't you need help in either case? Would you really want to take on either of those scenarios alone?
  • Maybe my motherly instincts are starting to kick in, like being protective of my baby :) so if I'm alone at home and I feel that something is wrong (or could go wrong) it may be that I'm just being cautious, making sure nothing bad can happen to us.

Thanks so much for the great advice, ladies! And to rest of you assholes..suck it!! Lol kidding ^_^
