Hi I posted a board a not to long ago about being almost 38 weeks and trying to naturally induce labor and I got so much cap for it......I thought I would update my condition....at 38 weeks exactly I went to the hospital with contractions and they admitted me at 5 cm. I ended up having her at 2:11 in the afternoon. She weighed 9lbs and 8 oz 21 and 3/4 inches long absolutely perfect ....apparently my due date was off ...so sometimes doctors do know what they are doing and sometimes you know your body but anyway she is here and she is beautiful

First, congratulations.

Second, you 'caught hell' because you were trying to induce labor prior to be full-term.  Obviously, your body knew what to do and went into labor on its own.  People were trying to point out that inducing labor before your baby is ready to come can potentially be harmful to your unborn child.  That's all.

How can internet strangers being concerned over the health and well-being of your baby ever be a bad thing?

There is a huge difference with your body naturally going into labor and you doing an at home induction.

I came back to say that at 38 weeks she was healthy but don't worry I'm leaving now

You know what? When I was younger kids didn't use car seats, I survived. Being lucky /=/ being smart

I am glad your baby is healthy but that doesn't change the fact that trying to induce early (without a medical reason) is selfish.

Some of yall aren't very nice people honestly. Plenty of women give birth before 40 weeks and are completely fine, I'm sure some of yall will give/have given birth before 40 weeks. she's not selfish for wanting to know ways to induce at 38? We're supposed to be here lifting each other up and supporting each other for what some might say is the most difficult and challenging time of their lives, but instead some of yall are tearing her down and calling her names and putting her on blast for her decisions and it's not cool. Nobody deserves to be torn down for their decisions, if yall are just going to be rude to every single person who has an opinion that's different than yours, then what's the point of us posting anything at all? Congrats to her and her wonderful family that she has now☺️

First of all, this site is not here for support.  People post for a lot of different reasons but we aren't here to slap each other on the backs at every opportunity.  Poor judgement should never not be addressed.

Second, yes plenty of women give birth prior to 40 weeks.  However, many times it happens on its own.  A woman should never try to naturally induce labor just because she's tired of being pregnant.  For medical reasons, yes, sometimes it's necessary.  But it shouldn't be the result of being impatient.

Third, can you imagine this website if it was full of people that only ever agreed?  A) People would be so misinformed and it's not representative of how things work in real life.  If there's something you don't agree with, do you just sit back and say nothing?  If you do, well then, that's sad.  But I speak up when I don't agree and I think it's healthy to offer various perspectives.

Speaking of perspective, some posters here should really get some.

Out of curiosity and boredom I came back on here to see what kind of replies I was getting and I have to say wow they just keep getting worse and my actual question that started this whole damn thing was I was 4 cm dilated how long could someone walk around like that and yall took the other info and ran with it ..it's one thing to be informative and explain your opinion but to insult and tear someone down is not what this app is all about good luck with your pregnancies I hope you all do great

I fail to see any insults. In fact, the opposite is true. You've been told that everyone is happy your attempts to induce labor before 40w ended favorably & that you got very lucky.

I'm confused... You basically came back and said "neener, neener, I was right!". Is that what this app is supposed to be about? I didn't catch your first post but based on your second you had a very child-like reaction to people who were worried about the safety of your child. How would you feel if someone read your story, induced early, and the child was born too early resulting in complications to the infant's health? As PP said, we are happy your actions weren't harmful to your child but that doesn't make what you did right.
